Some of you guys saying sh!t like “well that’s what you get!” need to have a little empathy here. We’ve all done stupid sh!t. The worst this kid should’ve gone through was a week of throwing up to teach him a lesson but instead his life is now pretty much over...

I think you should be able to get away with 1 incredibly stupid mistake as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. Then again maybe he does stunts like this every day. Tough break, all I know is if I was in his situation I'd be signalling everyone to wheel me off a cliff.

Obviously, I genuinely feel sorry for what happened to the kid(the consequence). But for those who commit such stupidity such as in the OP is what I don't have any empathy with...like those people who do deathful stunts that at any time and any moment could cost their life. I never condone such activities and acts. I'm not fan of those people. Unfortunately for the kid he paid the prize which is pretty sad specially for his family and people who care about him.
