The Florida House passed a school safety bill Wednesday that includes new restrictions on rifle sales and a program to arm some teachers, sending the measure to the governor for his signature.

The vote of 67-50 reflected a mix of Republicans and Democrats in support and opposition. The measure, a response to the shootings at a Parkland high school that left 17 dead, is supported by the victims’ families.

The bill would raise the minimum age to buy rifles from 18 to 21 and create a waiting period on sales of the weapons. It would also create a so-called guardian program that would let school employees and many teachers carry handguns if they go through law enforcement training and if the school district decides to participate in the program.

Other provisions would create new mental health programs for schools; establish an anonymous tip line where students and others could report threats to schools, ban bump stocks and improve communication between schools, law enforcement and state agencies.
This right here makes that part of the bill worthless in arming teachers. They effectively restricted gun rights with 1 cloak and dagger clause making it look like they were arming teachers, knowing that no school district will participate. What a damn joke.

Let's be real

If the most recent psycho school shooter who was ignored by LE and ignored by FBI and ignored by on scene SRO and allowed to do his thing had been in WA you'd be bent over taking it hard AF right now

Probably there are some democratically oriented school systems in WA making policies like Broward County had to try to create this scenario for themselves (srs)

Lmao. Some dumb fuker tried to rob a house right down the road from our shop and homeowner shot him. Happened like 4 hours ago and they can't find the guy but he's bleeding like a stuck pig. Mind = blown if this dude is still alive without medical attention judging by the crazy blood trail behind our shop where he ran through.

Unbelievable how we are quickly losing gun rights when we have a supposed 2A friendly President and Republican majorities. We are royally ****ed when it flips back. You know with nothing being done to actually prevent these things from happening, it's just going to continue and each one is going to push more and more public support over towards bans.

Fantastic testimony, and good job not looking like a ****ing nutcase. The last thing we need at these hearings is guys showing up in their Grunt Style chit.

All of this. But let's restrict law-abiding citizens even more.

Watching these parents complain to law-makers that their kid would still be here if the age was raised, or bump stocks weren't used, etc. makes me rage.Saw one dad say, his daughter was 'murdered.... or as many gun owners like to point out that guns are for hunting, my daughter was hunted'.

These parents won't be satisfied until FL looks like Cali. They need to be called out on their BS.

Then . . . the legislature went full potato on a mag ban and background checks. The capitol was literally flooded with pro-gun protests and testimony. Dem majorities pushed the laws through and the governor signed them. He later came out publicly and said he probably wouldn't have signed if he had known how unpopular the mag ban was and also that he was obligated to sign it because someone in his office had promised he would.

What a potato. If you want your head to explode . . . listen to him explaining it to a room full of sheriffs who universally opposed the ban.

Nah, all those Remington and Mossberg problems are fixable, you just have to know what you're getting yourself into. Also look at the problems that commonly occur and look the thing over in the store before signing off on the 4473.

A new 870 is probably going to need a fluff and buff, and you should change the extractor out for something non-MIM. A new 590, take it apart and remove the firing pin spring right off the bat.

Alternatively, go to a store that sells po po trade-ins and get an old one.

Streamlight TLR-1 HL or Surefire X300 Ultra. Streamlight is cheaper.

Make sure you can find holsters that will accommodate whatever you choose. You won’t have any problems finding holsters for either of those.
