Trump doing his best to de-rail the one talking point he has that's not strictly geared to conservatives.

Dow down bigly today. The market growth is going to fall to less than 20% from 2017 - through current. A great return to be sure but a couple more days like we've seen lately and all of a sudden Trump's one talking point goes away. I wonder who he'll blame?

Just curious, but do you get excited for bad things to happen to the US as long as it makes Trump look bad?

Yes. Good time to buy. Once Trump settles down and they resolve the trade issues with China the market is going to rebound again. It's probably going to be a roller-coaster of a year.

dropping under the 200 day MA is NOT good. I haven't looked at all of the latest technicals, but I'm sure it's all bad news.

I keep telling you guys, Trump is pouring gas on what was already a healthy economy. And for what? Some corporate tax cuts for his country club buddies?

No. It's beyond frustrating to see how it's amateur hour at the white house and all the dumb chit trump does just because it's opposite of what Obama did. He's destroying our country and our economy right at a time when things were really going well.

The trade issues won't resolve because China is a smart negotiator and trump only has two negotiating moves: punch harder or fold. And with trump comments like "it's easy to win a trade war" - Which do you think he's going to deploy now that China is pushing back? Trump punch or Trump fold?

If the economy was healthy as you libs like to claim, why was the economy the main issue for most voters this last election?

The economy was ****. Trump has actually taken measures to objectively improve it, and the market dips?

Again, the current slide is irrational, just as the 8 years of growth under obama was irrational.

How exactly is the economy any different now than it was during Obummer's tenure? The only difference is that joe plumber has an extra $200 to spend each month and that the super rich have extra millions. Meanwhile the debt skyrockets for no reason and our uber tard president decides to start a trade war and tweet about **** about one specific company. That's really the president's job to lie about Amazon's impact on the USPS. And I don't even think he knows he's lying, he's that phukihng stupid.

Have you talked to your psychologist about these feelings?

Would you be happier if trump resumed Obama’s policy of shipping billions of cash to Iran and the Middle East? Joe the plumber doesn’t need it, ISIS does!

Billions of cash to Iran and the ME? Is that what the alt right sites are quoting now? Billions?

And saying the economy is now "booming" and "best its ever been" is nothing but feels. Numbers tell a completely different story.

because fox news propaganda convinced millions of voters that things were worse than they actually were. trump has done nothing to "improve" the economy other than remove health and safety regulations that benefitted consumers and employees, and give massive tax breaks to the rich corporations.

yeah, I was telling a fried today that I'm not sure what's worse:

1 - a president who is too dumb to know the factual truth about a topic
or
2 - a president who knows the truth but instead deliberately lies to the american people about it

trumpers - which is it? 1 or 2?
when trump says that illegals are hurrying to cross the border to take advantage of daca (which is factually wrong), is he saying it because he's a doofus and doesn't know the truth or because he is a deliberate liar?

It's almost like people don't understand The Art of the Deal. If you read Trump's book he gives you his playbook and all he's doing is following it to a T. Seriously. It's not that he's crazy or unhinged, this is just his style, and so far it's working in a lot of ways. He says something ridiculous and threatens to cause mass chaos and people fold and make concessions. He did it in business and he's doing it in office. Traders and the general public hear him threatening to blow everything up and take him seriously and freak out. He's not actually going to cause the chaos he's threatening, he just wants to come across as willing to. Same tactics that the North Koreans have used for decades to get concessions. Again, it works. Just relax and play the casino for what it is. We slapped up to $60B of tariffs on China and they retaliated with $3B on us. South Korea already folded to us. Our trade deals are getting better.

The real threat isn't Trump but rising interest rates in an environment where equities are flooded with cheap money and inflated quite a bit. Between the hit equities will take it'll also bring down capital investment, durable goods orders, and a litany of other issues. I think the fiscal tax cuts will help offset this and we'll just end up with hiring debt servicing costs. Yippee.

We've got a few more years before the **** hits the fan.

Im guessing you missed the tarrifs China just slapped on US products TODAY.

Funny thing is, Trump only announced the tarriffs thinking that tarriff threats will get China to "negotiate", he didnt even implement them yet. Looks like China isnt f*cking around, they already put those into effect. Unlike tax cuts, tariffs effect consumers immediately, higher prices on goods and 401k's and mutual funds losing money from the market selloff is going to make it feel like tax cuts never even happened.

because the DOW keeps dropping since the beginning of Feb.

you act like we've been ignoring the up days and the market has been largely unchanged since Feb.

Try again. Dow is down almost 2,000 points since Feb.

Fairly recently under obama we had like the worst January ever, market was down around 12% if I remember right.

Where were your threads saying obama was killing the market?

We are getting caught up in noise right now.

I don't think I was posting in the R&P at that time. but please feel free to post any charts you have.

also, was obama saber rattling with china and other trading partners to cause the dow drop? asking for a friend.

Market is very overvalued by just about any metric. Buffett Indicator, rising interest rates competing with stocks,...

Build cash, maybe some gold ETFs.

If you want to see the equivalent to this thread, but dating back from 2012-2018, head over to Bogleheads.org. There’s a thread called stocks are in free fall. It gets bumped on every bad day where somebody claims the next huge recession and moves all to cash.

Just shows how little we know, and how wrong most of our predictions are.

If you are truly confident that trump is tanking our markets, short the market, post it on here, and make your fortune. Easy, right?

I know the left leaning folk on this board don’t like to dabble in the conspiracies that float around, but some “insiders” have been saying the fed is corrupt and will ultimately be taken down. In doing so, the markets are going to go crazy for a while.

One person worth reading if you have a lot of time on your hands was meganon, posted on reddit for 8+ months. Threads are archived. Accurately predicted McCabe, strzok, Page, ohr, tillerson, Pompeo, etc. months in advance. Lots of other predictions as well. Their predictions about the markets could be just as wild as anyone else’s, but they clearly had some level of insider knowledge when it came to government happenings.
