Rear wheel re-lacing day for me. Took it all apart, threw some plumbers tape on the spoke threads, about to reassemble now.
Hopefully no more loose spokes after the project is done.

jeeeeezus christ. Got the ISM pn 3.0 saddle in preparation for the ironman and holy jesus christ I sent over 6 hours this weekend adjusting it and I'm left with crazy chaffing to the point where it's almost an open wound. Along with the gooch and ass rub I have a saddle sore. And on top of that my tendonitis flared up. Haven't had issues with tendons for a couple years but because i was literally using a wrench for basically 6 hours to move **** around my arm is swollen now. The only positive I can say is that it's easier to ride in the drops and my balls are significantly happier. I don't know if my saddle is too high or too low or too far back or forward at this point. I refuse to spend a few hundred on a bike fit though, going to soldier through this but damn it sucks.

lol just lol

A bike fit seems like a lot of money especially for an aero fit on a TT bike but it's worth it. If you are going to spend a considerable amount of time there or try to be competitive in a tri, crit, etc. it can help you put your body in a more efficient position to get a few more watts as well.
It's worth the money but do your homework on a good bike fitter. I spent $200 on mine and it's worth it. You'll never ride 100 without any pain but it can lessen the pain and that means more power.
Saddles sores are no joke. Make sure it doesn't get infected. I've had some minor ones and thought I was going to die. A buddy of mine had some get infected and he had to go to the hospital and get them taken care of.

Does anyone use or has tried the Specialized Power saddles? I recently got the new Fizik Antares Open R1 and I'm not loving it...
I think it is a bit too long for me which despite the cutout still puts alot of pressure on my soft tissue and I'm getting numbness.
The ISM was too wide at tip.. I have a Selle Superflow on my CX bike which I'm pretty happy with but not 100%. Its good enough.
I think I'll buy the Specialized Power to give it a try...It seems like everything I like about my ISM but not nearly as wide at tip.

I just use a charge spoon saddle. Wear regular shorts and normal undies when I ride. Rarely get saddle sores. Only get them when I ride slow & upright position.

Nice pic! I'm going to pick one up on my way home and give it a try...
I did a Retul fit also...They raised my seat post a good 3 cm. Seems to have really helped with some Knee Clicking I had, and noticeable power increase, but didn't do much for saddle numbness.

Finding a shop willing to loan saddles is really nice when trying to figure out your best options. A bike fit will often have this option but I know many of you aren't that into it or have already had one and dont want to pay the retail to re-do it to find a saddle. I probably have $500 in seats with slight (unreturnable) wear that didn't work out for me.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Put the Specialized Power saddle on my bike and did a 1hr trainerroad workout....
WOW! Best saddle I've used. Didn't get any numbness, could stay in my drops and in an aggressive position without feeling like the nose of the saddle is causing pressure.
Huge improvement over the 2018 Fizik Antares R1 Open and even the Selle Italia Superflow (which is OK & on my CX bike). Usually I get discomfort on the trainer but not as much outside.
Can't wait to rideout on the WEDU Texas 100mile ride this weekend. Its out in the Texas Hill Country and hosted by Lance Armstrong's ride promo company WEDU Sports.

Yes Canada is particularly scenic for cycling... Would you believe, however, that this shot is taken in the Catskill mountains in Livingston Manor, NY?! U.S. is pretty darn scenic for cycling too! My favourite ride so far was the Blue Ridge parkway (Shenandoah Park):

Power saddle here also, I got that saddle since it first came out and it has worked great for me.
I also have the sitero on my tri bike which is pretty much the same concept but flat on the top.

Hey brahs,
I thinking about getting a new mountain bike but have a few questions. First of all, why would anyone want a hardtale when you could just stiffen the rear spring to compromise for uphill? I know most entry levels are hardtales, but the lack of upgradeability is just a turnoff for me.
Id like to get a decent full suspension bike for under $1000. Ive heard of brands like cannondale, but just curious if theres other brands out there I should keep an eye on. Also another dumb question. Already have a mongoose Walmart bike that's full suspension. Would it be better to upgrade the suspension I have now and save a couple of hundred, or are these things not very upgrade friendly.
Also should I buy a new bike straight from the retailer, or is it better to build your own, like computers ($ wise).

Riding a hardtail is awesome. I used to ride bmx so I was attracted to the hardtail because of that, and the low maintenance lifestyle.

Walmart bikes can also adjust the rear shock, so the whole uphill argument means nothing if you can stiffen back up already. I wouldnt mind buying a name brand, if full suspension trail bikes were more reasonably priced. The best Ive found were diamondback and fuji that were $1000. I refuse to spend more, because any more money I could just buy a damn motorcycle lol.
If I could just upgrade the bike I have now, where would I look to find a better fork and how do I compare quality other than travel?

today i did laps at central park in new york for the first time....i am just seeing this beautiful city in a completely new way.
saw lot of roadies who overtook me easily but looked like seasoned pros with aero bikes...i was very impressed with the speeds they were achieving.
there were lot of steep slopes with long descents..and it was fun to challenge myself and figure out gear shifts...i realized i was using too much of leg muscles and later switched to lower gears that shifted effort to my lungs....legs & calves are super sore...next time gonna make sure i focus on building cadence.
i also realized that my 7 speed struggles a lot when i am operating at higher speeds..as each shift makes big jumps i am unable to achieve comfortable RPM/cadence when accelerating..its either too much peddling ..or too slow peddling..and big effort shifts to my leg muscles again to accelerate...definitely made me realize limitations for having less than 10 speed on rear...otherwise for climbing its great as bike has super low gears.

Who else does very frequent gear changes? I've heard in videos that some cyclists settle for a less efficient gear from laziness of changing gears or something like that.
I'm the complete opposite and it can occur that I literally change gears more than once per second for several seconds. I'll sometimes alternate between 2 gears several times until I decide on the most efficient one. I have the gear changers that are 2 buttons/paddles so it makes it effortless to change speeds without having to move my hand.
I'm also always on the big ring on the front except for very steep off road climbs, so while I may change my rear gear hundreds of times on a bike ride, I likely change my front gear about twice a year.

all triathletes or for anyone else who happens to know, i'm looking the castelli free sanremo sleeveless tri suit. Any chance anyone knows of any deals that are on right now? so expensive to order anything to canada as it seems i have to pay about $40.00 in customs + the 12% local tax on top of everything. Brb 300 for a tri suit -_-

those are going relative "cheap" on ebay but not sure about taxes and delivery to Canada. Those run small so make sure u size up or at least buy from a place that u can return it in case it doesn't fit right.

I'm getting strong again as far as average speeds/weight. weighed in at 185.0 (fully clothed) the other day (down from 191) so I just need to lose a few more pounds to get to the 170's. Then I want to crush some mountain climbs after that.
As usual, I've been predominantly road biking. Hopefully the carry-over to the mountain bike is strong when I jump back on it!
