All memes and hysteria aside, it does look like a case of mental illness given how he wanted to get killed instead of trying to increase his body count. Won't know for sure for a while probably, though.

I mean, you can technically define the incident as "terrorism" but that's not what people really associate with the term (where you expect an underlying ideology to motivate the attack).
