What's everyone's take here?
IMO, he's my favorite Marvel villain (and I'm a fan of Loki). This was a tight movie (did not ****ing feel like nearly 3 hours) but they were able to jam so much pathos into his backstory in such little time. Really, before this, we haven't gotten anything out of the guy beyond a neat scene with Ronan back in GtG1.
They really sold him well, someone who is both capable of terrible horror but they added quite a lot of nuance to him. Who wasn't shocked when he killed Gamora? Part of me identified with his cause, even if it meant just randomly slaughtering 1/2 of all sentient life, he has a point. We see what happened to his homeworld (all dead) and, apparently, his approach worked perfectly with Gamora's people (who are now thriving).
It's a comic book movie and an over-stuffed one already at that, but they established that he kind of has a point. He's not in it for personal ambition, I got no sense he derived any pleasure from it and yet he's cruelly able to end lives. A very odd dichotomy for a character, one which made him very interesting.
Is anyone upset at the strong deviation of his goals from the comics? I have no problems with it at all. Honestly, the courting Death and hoo-ha stuff from the 90s wouldn't have translated well and I actually much prefer this take on the character.
Thanos seemed stronger. What clinched the fight was that he was clearly an expert martial artist (those jabs he was throwing were great) and Hulk's brawling couldn't compete.
No idea if he used the powerstone in the fight. He probably was.
Without the stones, we know he made Ronan **** his pants, but Ronan with the blue one no longer feared Thanos, so Thanos base-level is probably somewhere between those versions of Ronan... which I don't think is anywhere near strong enough to beat the Hulk so easily.

I saw his side of the argument and at points i was like...ok that makes sense actually -> saved gammoras planet actually. killed half but now it's a prosperous planet
thanos beating up hulk was epic. his conflict in the gamora killing scene was the best scene of the movie imo. i really felt for him. it made him an entirely rounded character and humanized him

I don't blame the actor dude, I can see spending 12 weeks to get in tiptop shape for the solo movies, but for this, nah.
There was a promo for Jurassic World 2 or whatever before this and I'm sure he's all juicy for that role, so it probably just comes down to him not cutting down from 15% or wherever his normal bf stands for this part.

Saw it last night brilliant movie and absolutely hilarious but with some truly powerful moments as well.
It's interesting that the ones to survive include Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Cap, and Black Widow. Throw in Hawkeye likely coming back in Avengers 4 next year and you've got the entire original Avengers team still alive and they're going to be tasked with bringing everyone else back. Definitely not a coincidence.
Part of me wouldn't be surprised in the least if Avengers 4 ends in a complete reversal of what happens with Avengers 3 with all the characters that died being alive, and the ones currently alive ending up dead.

I heard in original screenings they showed Thanos cock at one point. It was at that scene in the end where he was walking on the planet and sat down. When he was walking you could vaguely see that he was nude, shaken from his battle. Suddenly a large onject appears between the gap of his legs and it was no-doubt his purple hog.
They edited it out because it added nothing to the film and would have needed an R rating

Plus, having some unknown character come out of nowhere to save the day, woman or not, would come off as unearned. However they deal with the cliff hanger, it needs to be a group effort?

The rest I think could die though and a lot of them kind of make sense. Tony will sacrifice himself to save Peter and Strange, Rocket sacrifices himself to save Groot, Cap sacrifices himself to save Black Panther, and Nebula I think sacrifices herself to bring back Gamora.
It's definitely set up in that way for a reason I suspect.

Thanos was an absolute boss, I thought he was a bit underpowered on Titan (except for the moon grab which was epic), theres no way they could grab him like that. Poor form by him, but I guess they needed some drama.
Glad he gets another movie to be bad ass

I obviously watched guardians 1/2... 1 did it right. 2 started pushing it. this went too far
as for captain marvel... it's stupid to add somebody to save the day with the introduction being so late into the marvel movie lifecycle. ideally captain marvel should have come out between thor2-3. they're more than welcome to pull it off the captain marvel movie will need to be amazing to get people vested into her character this late. if that movie doesn't kill it, then most fans will be upset in avengers 4. to me at least, it has nothing to do with sjw nonsense. it's just that i'm vested into thor, hulk, captain america, iron man, etc because they had so many movies building this up. captain marvel has nothing right now.
edit: i'll also add that i like brie larson and i think she's capable of pulling this off. she's a solid actress

Safe to say Dr Strange giving the time gem to Thanos is that one path(our of 16 million) he sees where they win? Stark must live?

Movie was great. Had a lot of epic moments. Almost had manly tears with that Groot completing Thor's axe scene + their entrance to the battlefield in Wakanda. Maybe one of the most epic moments for me, but I could be biased because Groot is my favorite character.
9.5/10 movie
I was only a bit disappointed at how easily the Black Order was done in.

IMO, the MCU version of Thor, after two movies of massive powerups, would not just take down the DCEU Superman but probably curbstomp him, even if DCEU isn't vulnerable to magic. Thor tanked a star for fuks sake, single-handedly turned around the entire battle of Wakanda and was a kunt hair away from taking down Thanos with the IG.

Btw this is the only movie where I liked Thor
Obviously those who died from Thano's finger snap would be revived in some way but I don't know about the others who died in another way, like Loki and Gamora.
