I put 28c Grand Prix tires on my supersix disc and the damn rear tire rubs the rear non driveside chainstay.
Anyone else run into this issue ?

I'm currently riding a completely modded Giant Escape hybrid. It weighs ~ 26 lbs. I'll take it out 20 miles and on flats I can hit 20-21 mph if I am pushing it. I'd like to upgrade and am considering a Cannondale CAAD 12 Ultegra which I believe is around ~17 lbs. $2100 MSRP. I would probably upgrade the wheels and tires at some point. Ironically I have the same Mavic Aksium wheels on my Giant.
What else would you recommend at that price?

My simple advice - spend the $$$ on the frame, not the components. You can upgrade components later, you can't upgrade the frame. I'm also not much of a fan of alloy road bikes, simply because, without the extra tire volume that a MTB (or even a gravel/CX bike) has, the alloy tends to produce a very harsh ride which ends up passing fatigue along to your body since your body ends up doing more of the shock absorption.
That said, I've heard nothing but great things about CAAD bikes. As always, ride them first. Don't spend $2000 on a bike without riding it a good bit

Rode some MTB today. Part of the ride consisted of fire roads so I practiced manuals through those miles. Caught a SOLID balance point on one attempt, held it a long time and felt stoked. Looking forward to doing these on cue for infinity distance with a lot more practice. Nothing is more satisfying than holding a manual on flat/slight sloping sections of trail lol. Like a boss. Not a way to get KOMs, but it is fun.
Really good video of a guy learning to manual from scratch:

I was wondering, those who say you can save money by riding your bike instead of driving your car, that's only true if you want to lose weight isn't it? It seems to be the complete opposite if you want to maintain or gain weight which is my case.
I'm quite sure it costs me significantly more in food per mile riding my bike than gas per mile driving my car. I try not to exceed 1 cent per calorie with my groceries, so a 3000 calorie bike ride can cost me $30 in extra groceries to prevent myself from losing weight, while doing the same distance by car would probably only cost a few dollars of gas.

I crushed a pb&j sandwich, milk, and chips today post-ride and that 1000 cals costs nothing ($2 maybe?).

Trek emonda is a great bike. Caad frame is nice.
You can also check out a entry level specialized tarmac.
I used to have a caad 12.
I rode an trek emonda alr. I liked the emonda better. They feel different. Caad felt light and twitchy. The emonda felt stiff and study but I think weighted less. Super smooth ride. Caad was harsh.
Plus trek gives you all Shimano components. No special tools required to work on your bike like Cannondale. The Shimano stuff is really nice. Can't go wrong. $2k range more than sure you could find a carbon emonda but the aluminum frame is also nice.
Like.someone else said. Get a nice frame. Components can always be upgraded.

Giant offers great value but their disc brakes are weird..they have some cable pulling the hydraulic...thats the most ghetto setup imo and takes up half the space on handlebar...and they have it on TCR also...why would they refuse to just increase price few hundred bucks and put real hydraulic system?

also, giant defy had shimano full hydraulics in 2017......i am not a fan of such a critical component being proprietary and semi-hydraulic..plus it looks ugly when u use brakes, a metal piston pops out...as if some ghetto bike mechanic developed a makeshift way to fix hydraulic system.

How does that even work? Do they have the master cylinder in the caliper or something? That's definitely ghetto for sure, considering how much "real" hydraulic discs have come down in price and the volume that Giant is likely buying them in. Chit, my $750 commuter came stock with legit Shimano hydraulic discs.

With a Trek Emonda ALR you get a full 105, Ultegra, or Durace groupo, depending on your budget.
Just my personal opinion...The CAAD is a great bike, many many people swear by it.

whole point of aluminium is supposed to be budget friendly ..but at $2000+ its hardly a budget purchase.
a carbon fiber just offers soo many more benefits..weight, comfort, aero.
i just feel at that advanced level when someone buys a proper road bike, its better to just skip all these 'high end' aluminium frames and go straight for a carbon frame...just squeeze out bit more money.
an aluminium will always be aluminium...a metal that transmits vibrations, cant be molded like fiber, has exhaustion and weighs more.

Having ridden both mechanical and (proper) hydraulic discs; hydraulics are night and day better in every measurable aspect. They give you the best of both worlds; modulation for days and days and days, and enough braking force to rip the wheels off when you need it, all with a single finger.

its definitely a 'cost effective' solution...and looks so bad when in operation..bikes are moving towards clean interal wire routing look and integrated cockpit and then giant comes up with this hideous attachment with metal objects poking out of your handlebar..... i am just gonna hope they bring back shimano hydraulics for Defy advanced 2 or 3 for 2019 or just put normal rim brakes

I have upgraded components on previous bikes, so I agree. I read the CAAD can fit 28mm tires so if I upgrade the wheels that can help with shock.
(yes wife is short, it's a size 48 frame

For the ironman, 2 choices!
Giro Aerohead

vs
Giro Vanquish

In comparison to my Kask Protone:
Giro Aerohead will save me about 2 to3 minutes
Giro Vanquish will save me about 60 to 80 seconds
I'll only be able to use the aerohead for triathlons. Overall the Vanquish seems like it will get significantly more use. Will also be able to use it on regular rides as well and can use it with or without the shield. Additionally the ears aren't covered so I will have better hearing = better safety. It also doesn't look quite so garish. I 'feel' like you have to go fast to be able to justify a dedicated aero helmet however that's just me. Thoughts??

We need a new ideology with the core values of reason, honesty, science and secular progress over the older traditions of religion, superstition and dogmatic faith that have long defined humanity. We will never be free to progress and advance until the last stone from the last church is cast down onto the last priest. And every equivalent.
