It's largely because we've allowed subversive influences to corrupt our society and make people believe that they want things that they don't actually want. Hundreds of thousands of years of human evolution can't be canceled out by "muh strong independent career woman...rawr...maybe I'll have a family later...." Many women begin to, in some very real sense, lose their minds if they don't have a long-term partner and children by 30 or so. They're programmed that way, and for good reason. Trying to break the programming only works out semi-well for a small proportion. It's even worse now that social media nearly forces them to confront the happiness and success of others. I recently noticed a similar phenomenon with a birdhouse in my backyard. The house was claimed by an invasive bird species, so I closed off the entrance to keep them from nesting. They realize that breeding season is here and that they may miss out entirely if they don't make something happen soon, and they start going legitimately crazy ramming their heads into the wood to try to gain access. It doesn't matter how diligently they gathered nesting materials earlier on if they've blown their chance to use them.

This doesn't even take into account the downward spiral of degeneracy that commenced in earnest around the late 1960s, during which increasing acceptance of female promiscuity has dramatically reduced the average woman's sexual value and, therefore, feelings of self-worth. With social media and globalization thrown into the mix, every day is a desperate (largely subconscious) competition with others, oftentimes for things that they don't honestly want. You can see how that might be depressing.

None of the above should be construed as an attack on women. It's just reality. The above-referenced subversion has had negative effects on men as well (the rise of soyboys, incels, pron addicts, etc).

I'll speak for all the high test males, there is nothing wrong with pron as long as you aren't idolizing the women in it.

It's only a problem to the extent it distracts you from being productive. I was referring more to people who use it as a substitute for pursuing actual women (lots of overlap with incels and soyboys/nu-males).
