This picture always fuks me up whenever I come across it... The mother suffers from a rare disease called Crouzon Syndrome. Although it is an extremely rare condition, it is also highly inheritable. I know it's cruel to forbid people from having children but come on... really?! If you love your children so much wouldn't it be better to not bring them into this world knowing there's a 95% chance they'll suffer from the same condition you did?

I know I'll probably come off as an azzhole but I needed to get this off my chest...

Let's be real positive for a second, that woman was so fortunate for a guy to give her 4 kids. That's love.

Even though the guy obviously deserved another woman that was on his level, he was a very good dude to sleep with this one.

Why does every kid look like their condition is more severe than the mom? On top of that you would think since the dad doesn't have the condition the kids would show very little signs. Maybe as they grow older the physical traits of the condition will lessen?

This. My oldest is healthy but my daughter has an incurable disease my wife and I didn't know we were carriers for. Once she was diagnosed that was it, no more kids.

We have a family here in town that pops out kids left right and centre . I was told they were half brother and sister, and these kids look like something from a horror film . And they continue to do it .

I went and looked it up, and apparently people with that syndrome... just... look weird. That's it. There's no mental retardation or anything like that.

With that in mind, no, I don't think it's "cruel" per se. Because if you're saying that, you're effectively judging from the outside whether someone else's existence is worthwhile to them... and that's not really for the rest of us to decide.

Yes, but we have to be pragmatists, people should have the foresight to know their kids are gonna come out fuked up and decide of their own volition to remove themselves from the gene pool. If they really want kids, they should adopt.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I can see both sides of the argument. I was in favor of them not breeding but some of your comments actually make good points.

I will say this. Some of the genetic conditions can be painful or create extreme situations where the child will die quickly or other terrible outcomes. In these cases they should not procreate. In this particular case it sounds mostly cosmetic and we should not be playing God deciding who gets to live.

We talked about the woman who carries the no arms gene. If youre asking was it irresponsible for her to have a boy with no arms, yes it was. There is adoption or i think there may be a way to implant another womans eggs in her. Should the government sterilize her against her will no. But in that particular case it was grossly irresponsible on her part. These kids apparently just look different.

Things are not that easy, not that black and white. Being ugly isn't the end of the world, but what about if these kids were very heavily developmentally disabled? I'm not advocating removing the rights of these people, but hell, I am a normal guy, tall muscular, intelligent, educated, great job, with an attractive, and intelligent wife who is also educated and has a great job, and I'm considering not having kids of my own and instead adopting. There are so many things that can go wrong, and while no one in my family or my wife's family has come out developmentally disabled, you just never know.

Like i said, I COMPLETELY understand your POV and I agree, they should totally adopt, but you are judging their biological worth based on their looks. Besides, the disorder doesnt lower their IQ, it just has the physical deformity. It saddens me that those kids have to live their lives looking like that and have to endure the ridicule, but it makes me happy knowing that lady had her own kids that share her genes and DNA. Because hell, with the way chit is going in the UK, who the hell knows if they will soon start telling people who can and cant have kids? They should totally adopt and do their part to help that way, but i will fight for their right to reproduce vs ANYONE who says differently
