I'm not saying the links I provided give definitive proof, but it is enough for me to believe they are not strictly straight.

This whole thread is about ya'll straight guys feeling like your masculinity is being threatened because some fictional character might possibly be not straight.

There is a LOT of victimhood in this thread and yes I might be partaking in it, but we all need to grow up and get a thicker skin. I'm admitting I'm being beta right now by being offended when someone calls me a ****phile, at least you can admit you're offended because films aren't catering to your every emotional need.

I honestly think the reaction is more about there not needing to be this kind of thing in Star Wars movies. It's not like heterosexuality is played up in the franchise. To date, there has been little to no sexuality in Star Wars period, and that's how it should stay. We don't need to be pushing agendas in every single movie or franchisee, especially where it's not currently present or appropriate.

Sure. You don't even know how his sexuality is going to be portrayed, if at all. It's like Dumbledore being gay, but it was never portrayed.

as for the topic at hand, and lucianus spouting off about this not being a big deal... The problem is, this is an INTENTIONAL action, to promote the minority while giving 2 chits about the majority. It's a slippery fukkin slope mate. It's what has been happening in the US for the past decade or so, the vocal minority or stomping out the silent majority. If the majority speaks up, they are labeled and hateful ignorant monsters. So they stay quiet. Next thing you know, we have little boys in school dressing as girls and stomping out girls in the girls wrestling division. We have gender fluid bathrooms. etc. It's absolutely ridiculous, and it is only going to get worse. And I mean it when I saw worse, because this movement is not good, not good at all.

also lucianus, if your list of people who were considered to have been gay, you didn't mention that there was as much conjecture about them being p3dos.... why?

I like that you used the phrase 'reprogrammed', cause at least you're admitting you are programmed.

goes without saying, but it's kinda funny seeing straight guys freak the fuk out over this. my whole life i've consumed tv shows, books, films and personal experience ofnothing but straight relationshipsyet i don't let that get in the way of me enjoying the content or getting upset at those in my life who don't have the same sexual orientation as me.

Viewing these films based on straight love stories in fact urged me to go through processes trying to turn myself straight, now that i've accepted it isn't possible and they were a part of my self hatred, i'm mature enough to take it for what it is: entertainment, and also the world isn't going to cater to my every need.

I posted this in the thread:Was the Toronto van attack an inevitable reaction to the current social climate?(meaning rise of SJW)

and I think it resonates with this topic too, so i'll leave it here:
You're so fuking defensive dude. I don't give a fuk about anyone's sexual orientation, what really bothered me in the last star wars movie was mostly the forced 'capitalism is bad, women are strong and indepedent' messages. I don't mind the movie having an agenda or even portraying deviant sexual behavior, as long as it makes sense in the context of the movie and doesn't degrade the quality of writing. But it always does for Disney.

Everything doesn't revolve around your fuking sexual preferences man. I don't mind gay characters as long as they're not just "Token Diverse Gay Guy" and actually have some depth to their character beyond the fact that they slurp cawk. I mind the tacky and poor writing. They don't even bother with writing good movies anymore because the only thing anyone cares about is if it shows the right value set and is inclusive enough.

For example, I like the show Modern Family because the characters are likeable and have depth besides being gay and interracial.

I don't give a fuk about you being gay either, but I do mind you being overly defensive and projecting that everyone who disagrees with you is a triggered homophobe bigot. It's not cause you take cocks up the ass, even though clearly that's not a lifestyle for me. Stop being such a victim. Yeah I get that you homos have it chitty sometimes but guess what, everyone else does too and no one gives a fuk. Now stop being such a *******.
Without the internet i feel like a small rock on the mountain.

I don't really want my posts on the internet tbh ... I'm just legit addicted to posting ... people become addicted to the internet look it up

Think you are missing the point of what many are saying. My point is that pointlessly injecting these things is just boring pandering in a dumb attempt to garner attention for the movie, while annoying people who really enjoy star wars. It is injecting politics into something that people just want to entertain them.

I'm not offended at all. Just disappointed and annoyed that movies I enjoy are slowing being ruined by resorting to dumb ploys to try and garner attention.

EDIT: What Ruckus said as well. It feels cheap and usually resorts to many of these token characters being one dimensional.

Not saying it's right at all, but straight men had relationships with (now) illegally aged girls too during these times.

We saw Lando for all of 15 minutes. I don't think anyone knows who he was fantasizing about when he wasn't around Leia. Not that it matters or that there is an actual answer to this question, as he's entirely fictional.

Projecting what? I'm heterosexual. Your reasoning for seeing him as being only interested in woman is because the only person you saw him hit on was Leia. She is literally the only high-status broad he had a chance to hit on. I'm saying the status was a lot more important than the pooc.

For someone who considers himself an oppressed minority you sure do a good job of painting all heterosexual men with the same brush.

Several people (including me) have already explained to you that people don't give a fuk about gay movie characters as long as it's not some obvious media stunt like this one very obviously is, but all you do in response is act like a whiny bitch and assume chit they didn't even say in the first place. If you want to hold a meaningful discussion then stop arguing like a fuking teenage girl and form some proper arguments.

I agree with this.

At least for me tho I'll add that it's also about him being 'pansexual' instead of just gay. The main character of one of my all time favorite shows was gay and I couldn't care less. It was a great show and he was a great character.

But I didn't even know the word pansexual existed until this thread. Is this really something that needed to be portrayed in a star wars movie? What fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percentage of the population is legitimately pansexual? Will the sequel feature non-binary otherkins?
I call it "Celebration". It's sexual, and violent...

So in the entire series of the 3 old films, he's only ever shown to be interested in Leia, so based on those facts, which sane person would assume he's pansexual?

This is my problem with the gay agenda. It places way to much priority on who the person sleeps with.

What does it really matter who anyone could have possibly slept with? What does it change about the things they did historically and what does it change about Lando trapping Hans in carbon?

Yeah think I'm officially done with Disney SW...they purchase the world's largest IP to use as a platform for political stances.

There's nothing wrong with a pansexual character in and of itself. Oberyn Martell is a very beloved figure in the Game of Thrones story and basically pansexual (and an example of how to properly portray such a character). But there's a problem with subverting fans and making nonsensical and drastic changes to an iconic 40 year old character for the sake of identity politics.

Aside from pandering, Disney's rationale is "the guy liked wearing gold and purple capes, of course he was pansexual!"

You're the one making an assumption from a sample size of one.

I'm saying that I don't have a hard time believing he's pan and it fits with my understanding of his character. There's no assumption being made.
