and in this situation as people surround your vehicle it would feel quite threatening (it would be worse sitting in the car). Hopefully that’s enough of a defence to get off.

No way I'd stop there. I grew up a few minutes from there. Guy I went to high school with got murdered while sitting in his car just one street over. Two of my cousins live on the other side of that street (behind the old Venture) and a dad and his daughter were both shot in the head while bringing in their groceries. Just in the past two years I can't count the number of murders in that area.

Personally, if I was in that situation and had my kids in my car. People being aggressive, shouting at me, not permitting me to leave the area is kidnapping/holding me as hostage and putting myself and my kids at danger.
18 U.S. Code § 1203 - Hostage taking
(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, whoever, whether inside or outside the United States, seizes or detains and threatens to kill, to injure, or to continue to detain another person in order to compel a third person or a governmental organization to do or abstain from doing any act as an explicit or implicit condition for the release of the person detained,or attempts or conspires to do so, shall be punished by imprisonment for any term of years or for life and, if the death of any person results, shall be punished by death or life imprisonment.
From that law:-People in their cars are being detained against their will.
-They are continuing to detain (part of the - "..and threatens to kill, to injure,or to continue to detain."
-in order to compel a third person or a governmental organization to do or abstain from doing any act as an explicit or implicit condition for the release of the person detained. - In this case, justice for Isaiah, is the implicit condition.
If I slowly tried to move forward and they still did not permit me to leave, I would have done the same thing. Too many times these "protests" turn into riots and cars are flipped, objects thrown, etc. If they attacked my vehicle, I would have drawn my weapon and opened fire on the assailants for fear of my and my families well-being. Self preservation (bodily harm) in my state is legal.

The people in the car didn’t seem scared to me especially with that woman hanging out of the passenger side window engaging back and forth with Miss.Hamlet and the other protesters. It makes me wonder if they tried to make a point and drive through there on purpose.

Justice for Chrysler. My thoughts and prayers are with that poor car. Somebody should start a GoFundMe in case it was scratched.

But seriously... you have to be one stupid mf'er to stand in front of a vehicle operated by a driver whose intentions you have no clue about. This stupidity exponentially increases when the driver already showed little respect for your life by pushing you with a few tons of weight. It's almost like she was subconsciously acting and shouting "TAKE ME OUT OF MY MISERY". Not only this, but what exactly has ever been accomplished by blocking the roads? It just pisses people off because some people have more productive **** to do than to protest a justified shooting of some drug dealing dead beat lowlife.
What a world we live in.

i don't think the driver ever got arrested though?
the question becomes whether the driver believed their life was in danger or not. does the driver wait til the mob is breaking into the car and trying to drag them out or do they stop the threat believing their life is in danger? it's no different than using your firearm.
if you've made the decision to hit a protester, you better gtfo there. go to a police station and turn yourself in or something, but DO NOT STAY AT THE SCENE if you value your health/life. you're not dealing with rational people anymore.
