Gonna chef up some pulled pork in the Instant Pot . . . first attempt. Will see how it turns out.

EDIT: Damn, this smells delicious and it's only been cooking for about 20 mins.

Yeah . . . the slow smoking process definitely accentuates the "slow" aspect. But it's delicious.

This ought to be roughly 2 hours from beginning to end in the Instant Pot. That includes the sautee time and getting up to pressure time. I'm experimenting with 75 mins of cook time (which is after it gets to pressure and that takes a little time depending on what's cooking).

Instant Pot pulled pork . . . turned out delicious. This gadget continues to impress. Already done eating and not much left. The kids devoured it. Can't believe how tender meat gets when it's only cooked for that amount of time.

Will have to play around with some different recipes in the future. Lots of different flavors to try out.

That sounds pretty awesome especially for that kind of time frame. I was hoping the smoker alone would have made the shoulder tender but it was not shredable and needed another 4 hrs of slow cooking, kind of a PIA. Would be nice to get it done faster. I think next time I might slow cook in crockpot first shred then put in a pan int he smoker for an hour or two just to finish it. I usually just do 5at when hanging out at home. The instapot would be sweet for actually needing to cook a meal in a reasonable amount of time.

What would be outstanding is to smoke the pork for a couple hours to infuse the flavor and then throw it in the Instant Pot to cook it quickly. Win/Win.

The Instant Pot version is very tender and very tasty, but it would come in a close second to a perfectly-done, smoker-cooked pulled pork. However. . . the time factor difference is gigantic in relation to how good it still tastes. I put some iquid smoke in with the broth, so it had some smokiness to it. Not quite the same, though.

Recipe/instructions please?

There's a 0% chance it comes out as good as on a smoker, but there's also a 90%+ chance I'll like it well enough that it would be well worth doing on occasion for much easier and much less time than on a smoker.

But also that potential for combining methods...hnnngggggg.

Here's all I did . . . literally just threw it together using what we already had in the house.

- 1 Pork tenderloin package (the one we bought had 2 loins, which I cut in half so I had 4 smaller chunks)
- Coat with spices (I tried some Grill Mates "brown sugar bourbon" mix that we had in a drawer)
- Set Instant Pot to sautee, add a drizzle of oil and brown all sides
- Remove pork and deglaze pot with 1-1/2 c chicken stock
- Add liquid smoke to taste and stir
- Throw pork back into pot
- Cook on manual, high pressure, 75 mins, NPR (I let it sit for about 25 mins)
- Remove pork, shred with a couple forks (or tongs, hands, whatever)

So you let the meat sit in the liquids, not on the rack, right?

Also, how do you come up with the time? I'd have no idea how to adjust for what meats and such. Just got myself a pressure cooker, but not Instant Pot, recently and still learning what I can do with it.

Yeah . . . meat right in the bottom of the pot and not on the rack. Although, I would imagine on the rack would work. I have cooked meats like that before and turned out great.

Usually on the cooking times I try to find a sample recipe on YouTube or the interwebz and go by that. I'll sometimes follow the recipe exactly or make some changes based on spices/ingredients that I may prefer. Then I try it out and adjust time or other items as needed. I started keeping my notes in a Word doc just so I can go back and repeat or reference for other stuff.

Instant Pots are dope. Makes every meal soft tho and can be a little boring. Just made some ribs in mine two days and and they were falling off the bone. No complaints at all.

ive driven through ghettos bumping that kind of music. i used to work grave yard shift at a liquor store in the ghetto too, and id always play music like that when i worked. lots of thugs would come in the store, hear my music and it actually made them happy. start talking to me about oldschool gangster rap.
