Shot my Ruger AR-556 for the first time last weekend. Had a lot of fun at an outdoor range. I've since bought a new Magpul M-lok handguard and picatinny rail attachment. The stock Ruger handguard doesn't have a heat-shield and it was very apparent after shooting it for a bit. Magpul looks better too.

Put a Nikon 3-9x scope on the Marlin 795. Haven't had a chance to dial it in, but the clarity of the scope is very impressive.

I also wanted to mount a bipod to it, but quickly learned that the newer 795s don't have conventional sling swivel studs. They are molded into the synthetic stock. Because of this, the adapter that allows you to attach a picatinny rail using the swivel sling stud did not work. I had to add an additional metal stud by drilling through the stock and installing the machine screw/nut. Happy with how it turned out, but would have been nice to not have to do this.
Rail and adapter mounted to new sling stud.

Who was it that said that they carry the Gerber EAB for EDC in the last thread? I ordered two from Amazon. Came in yesterday. Pretty impressed.
But it's with your son. Can't ever be a bad time if you're with your kids.

I remember being 20 and having to pay full coverage on a $40,000 truck. No fun. I think I paid like $290/month or some **** like that. But then again we have some of the highest insurance rates in the country from what I understand.
Now me and my wife both pay like $220 total a month to insurance two brand new vehicles full coverage. Getting older has it's perks sometimes.
