Fat shaming, to me, is a good thing, overall, though. Sometimes a little bit of shame and guilt is a good thing.

It's not only that
Before women were more dependent on a mate, so being attractive to attract someone long term was important.

Now, women can work and make their own money, so they can focus on work, at the detriment of finding a mate/attractiveness.

An overweight working woman can still survive, where as before, an overweight woman meant she may have no potential suitors and no future.

5'8" 115lbs is perfectly healthy. Knew a slim chick with Cs who looked healthy at that weight. My gf is 5'8" and was 120lbs when we met, looked healthy.

I'd go as far as to argue 5'8 and more than 135lbs is fat. More than 150lbs is obese.

Some points here...

It is somewhat unclear where they are coming up with the statistic that 34.4% of women 20-39 are obese

It is unclear how this information could be prorated to percentage of women 20-30 obese

You say that 28% of women are aged 20-30....where is this number coming from? (from your source this doesnt appear to be the case unless Im interpreting it wrong). Just from very rough thinking here.....that more than a quarter of women are in one specific decade of age seems to be high.

The conclusion that there are 4 unsmashable women for every smashable one is somewhat misleading....indeed out of the two factors being considered here, age and obesity, it is the age factor of constraining to age 20-30 that is the main contributor to this small percentage of smashable women. People on this board might interpret this as "man....only 1 out of 5 girls smashable!", but really that stat is taking all women into account....elderly, etc, and does not translate to the women they are finding on tinder, for example. And a 31 yr old cannot be smashable but 29 yr old can?

Hmmmmmm.

Average and median are not the same.

I have a hunch that the truly superobese skew the average quite a bit. Think about it: one 400lb person and one 90lb person... Your average is now 245. You can be far more extremely obese than you can be underweight and survive. Thus, average is a poor representation of the actual population, far more of whom are likely clustered around a median weight that's only slightly higher than it used to be.

Idk if the study uses accurate terminology though. Maybe they said average but meant median. Idk.

You would be 100% right. Digging into the deep data you can see that. If I had the absolute original data, I'd just do a scatter plot, but ya, averages are not the best for things like this.

I had this picture on my first chitty PT business cards when I was 19. The lolz were more important than good business decisions at that age.

It all depends on fat distribution. If girls have it around their waist and not tits/ass, they just look like a fat fridge. If they have it in tits/ass, they are thick. You are thick or are carrying lots of water. Your husband must be part of the high test crew, mirin.

Nah, 100lbs is pushing it, but 120lbs nowhere close unless she was physically malnourished. I used to train a couple of really tall skinny chicks who were just the equivalent of female beanpoles.

The 168.5 lbs is an average as in mean, in the study.

The median, or 50th percentile, you can see is not too far off the mean in their data....just about 10 lbs less at 158 lbs.

Not a huge difference
