There’s also video of the victim jumping behind the counter for protection before he was dragged out, then another where comes back to the store bleeding from his wounds begging everyone for help and nobody does anything

This story makes me sick to my stomach.

I spent most of my weekends as a child and into my early teens in NYC playing baseball with probably 99% dominicans.
The kid reminds me of alot of ones that I grew up with in the baseball programs run by the local police department.

is it just me, or does one of the dudes they caught look a lot like the kid they killed/were looking for?

fukking tragic story, but seems like a pretty cut and dry case. it was premeditated and caught on camera. shouldn't take too long to convict.

as for "sitting there and doing nothing" by the bystanders, your body goes into a state of shock when you see something like that unfold. you get paralyzed and freeze up. not physically, but your brain goes into a "watching a movie" state of mind. i'm no doctor, but i've seen it happen and medical experts have described it better.

plus, there is no winning in that situation. why put yourself in harms way to rescue someone else you don't know. sad, but true.

As someone who was stabbed before (srs)

I was lucky when I was walking down the street, a good Samaritan (food truck owner) had stopped me and told me to rest on the ledge. He flagged down a cop car that was luckily driving by like a minute later and then the ambulance came by and I was able to get much needed help

So for people to not lend a hand is honestly sickening

true but sadly getting hacked up by machete is not uncommon thing in DR. most people are too poor to buy guns and **** and most are farmers there so Machetes are common there and are also a common weapon they use for **** like this.
my barber is domincan and he has a huge scar on his shoulder from a fight he had when he was 16. he says the other guys friend jumped in and almost took his whole arm off.
