2. Some.of the spaces are so.narrow you can't even fit through with a tank, let alone two people with tanks.
3. The kids can't even swim. So if they ever let go of the diver they are screwed.
4. The water is so dark and full of debris that even with lights etc you can only see a few centimeters in front of you. It's described as swimming in black coffee
Definitely not a good situation to be in.

Well the good news is if they are soccer fans they are already used to long stretches of complete boredom, so should be ok for a few months with nothing to do in the cave.

How dare you!
Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner.

Some people are fcking retarded in here.
I'm pretty sure they just went into the cave and then it started raining so they had to go further back into the cave to find high ground because they were getting washed out near the entrance and couldn't make their way back to where they started. So it was either stay where they were and drown or hope for the best and go further into the cave and get some dry ground.
As far as the narrow passage goes. Why not just take the scuba tank off, put it in front of you or behind you and swim while the next guy holds onto it and then passes it through the narrow part after you get through?
I went Cenote (cave) diving in Mexico. Some of the spots are narrow as fck, it gets a little crazy but as long as you stay calm you're fine.

EDIT: The distance is somewhere about 1.5 miles so that's highly unlikely even for an experienced diver.
