Watched a crackhead literally try to break the armpit and hand piece off a set of crutches for ~2 hours outside of a scrap yard to try and scrap the aluminum on them for like 30 cents to buy alcohol with.....he wasn't successful. Forsure the most impressive effort I've ever seen a human put into a task before.

There's been a lot throughout the years. Reading this thread made me remember some of the similar ones.

- When I was 12 there was a huge storm going on. Was watching chit go down from my bedroom overlooking the balcony. Neighbor's house had part of its roof torn off. Sidewalk was uprooted to like 12 ft.

- About 4AM looked up the sky and saw a red pulsating object. Thought it was a Chinese lantern so didnt think much of it but kept watching. It was when it changed direction really quickly and disappeared when it blew my mind.

- Stuck in traffic. Opposite side of highway a little more freeflowing then I see someone rear end a car on the other side of the highway and person who got hit did a 180.

- Nature chit: Climbing to mountain peaks always does it for me.

- Being up at a skyscraper tower. Not just the viewing platform, but way up where riggers work on.

- Seeing favourite artists in a concert

One of my biggest moments was in the photo below (Pennsylvania). I was looking south from where I came. Then I had the realization that I had walked as far as I could see into the horizon over a 100+ times to get to the exact spot I was at. The epicness of that coupled with the smallness compared to the earth/universe really had me take a moment.

When in the military was out in the field for mock training, and me and some of the boys were outside in the middle of the night just talking about random things and we looked up at the sky and it was literally the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Was shocked how many stars there were in the sky and you can see them all. Boggled my mind the light pollution had been affecting the night sky around me for so long.

Recent ones:

Driving to Yosemite from the south at 6 am and coming into Tunnel View right at sunrise and being there pretty much alone. Unreal experience

Being on the summit of whistler on a beautiful blue bird day after a night of hard snow, with my dad just having the whole day to ski on that great day without worrying about work or any of the **** I need to take care of back home

The only thing really stunned me wasa crazy heat lightningwhile on my "end of school trip" back in summer 2011.

We were around 10 guys playing soccer on a field near our camping site and suddenly it started far above in the clouds with no sound.Lightning over lightning, the entire side of the sky was like a giant tesla coil.

Something like in those videos (with a lot more lightning strikes) but at a around 9 pm in summer, so it wasn't as dark yet:





It lasted about 10 Minutes and thenhell broke loose, a crazy storm happened for a good hour leaving the entire camping site devastated, 2 trees fell over and countless branches broke down. (thank godwe were in solid wodden bungalows)


But that lightning spectacle... I'll never forget that and I've never seen anything close to that event.

A guy on my high school track team ran a 4:00.6 in high school....I saw him run 4:06 at the state championship. Paced with everyone in the 1600 and 3200...then kicked with 400 to go and won both races by 100m. (He won the 1500m NCAA championship the following year as a freshman). My high school also set the all-time national 4x800 indoor record that year. Set the state record for most points at the state track and field championships and set the record for least amount of points in x-country. We had 6 all state x-country runners (top 25)...only 5 count towards your teams total.

Side note: The second place team that year had one athlete. He won the 100, 200, 400 and long jump.

My doggo opening the latch of the door with his teeth. Latch required sliding up then across.

Finding out a couple I was dancing next to were having sex. Disturbing because she kept saying "ow" but stayed put. The guy didn't seem concerned. They were more or less strangers. I know because I stayed in the same area most of the time dancing, prior to seeing that felt comfortable there, plus there was a good view.

I freaked out more when she looked at me. Don't know why but I couldn't understand why she stayed. I think they eventually went their separate ways.

actually can't think of anything. i've seen a lion roar, i've seen beautiful places but i feel i'm too cynical to get mind blowned. maybe the first sight of tokyo. coming from a 12 hr flight, then a train ride, come out from the train station and holy chit. clean as ****, lights everywhere, there's rarely any japanese over here too so the language and everything made it seem like i was dreaming.

Fireworks on a rooftop in Brooklyn for 4th of july. Seeing the big ones near the brooklyn bridge while smaller ones are exploding all around you. Meanwhile sh*ts just going bananas in the streets below. One of the best moments of my life. Substances may have been involved, idk.

Concert in central park with some friends just laying in the grass; one of the few times in recent memory I felt true peace.

Fireworks in DC for 4th of July, probably 700,000 people in one place. It was unsettling as hell.

Edit: Various ghettos in america, some people live in completely different worlds.
