Really if I was in this scenario. I would assume that they offered me the proposal to do it whenever I wanted, no time restraint. I would gladly accept, and just store the contraption away without ever thinking about it again.

It's an interesting hypothetical for sure, but it's like, how awesome is it to just not kill someone despite your current living situation? I'll live another day and not end the rest of another's days. My life, has not changed, and I'm preventing the orchestrated murder of someone who most decidedly is being targeted for selfish and unlawful reasons.

OP the button could be to blow up the planet and I bet you within 10,000 people it will be pressed. I would say at least 50% of people in your scenario would press it at least once.

Let me guess, the twist is that you kill a parent or your best friend.

So, in the funny or die video, it's someone you don't know.

I'd take the box into the woods with my family so that accidentally killing an airplane pilot would be less likely to result in our death, then chain push it 10,000 times.

At least make it interesting. Less money/more people.

I'd kill a million people for $20,000,000 easily.

Anyone who gambles or plays video games knows how bad RNG is. Chances of someone you know dying is probably high.

Depending on how the RNG is seeded you could potentially predict who it’s gonna kill

Probably 3 times, I could live happily rest of my life off 3 mil . The chances of it being any American citizens that die are very slim.

A thousand people die every minute for plenty of preventable reasons that I can't help without large sums of money. I'd press it 100 times, donate plenty of money to organizations and charities with demonstrable results, of course after giving myself enough to be comfortable until the end of my days. That's my honest answer.

I would press it on the off-count of the deaths counter here:
http://www.worldometers.info/world-population/
For about a day. One person dies every .7 seconds anyway, and I still wouldn't effect the population growth of the world.
