Prices vary, right now in summer everything is expensive , in Progresso and Chixchulub (google rent), which is the beach next to Merida. But you can find something in that price range if you settle down for something low. We usually rent out a house for a weeknd for around 10k-20k just to party, but they are big beach front houses that fit a big crew.

If you’re financially well off be ready to always have to look over your shoulder and be in constant fear every time your significant other or your kids go out somewhere.

Not worth it. If you’re born there and that’s all you know it’s a fact of life, if you’re from a first world country it’s not remotely worth it.

I actually knew people who got kidnapped and ransomed for money, this one guy I knew was never the same.

Not in the city I live, theres is zero cartel crime. No worries at all, rumors have it that this is where all the cartel families live so its like a dont touch area. Theres practically no crime and is rated as the safest city in Mexico,.

You need to go for Semana Santa. It's lit. You will be addicted like I am. I have gone to Maza over 20 times so I have stayed pretty much everywhere. Houses, Hotels, Condos etc. Last time we stayed in this mansion near El Cid. Pool had a waterslide it was pretty dope. It doesn't matter too much where you stay as long as you're near the GZ/MARINA area.
