The only negatives for me about lifting in the AM are:

- takes me forever to get warmed up, I feel like a tin man.
- my usual crew lifts at 4-5PM, provides much more motivation than the geriatric crew at 5AM.

Just had my first 5:30 am workout in over 2 years. Loving it. Had coffee but I'm thinking of picking up some pre workout instead. Maybe C4?

C4 is garbage in my opinion. Easily my most hated main stream preworkout.

Redcon1 Total War is usually my go-to.

Nutra-Bio and MyProtein have excellent Preworkouts as well. They have a small dose of fast digesting carbs in the formula

Resurrecting this thread. My wife got a new job recently being a home health PTA, and her hours are changing. Looks like it's going to be back to 5AM workouts for me...

Going on a bachelor party cruise in August. Have to start a cut soon for that. Back to 6x a week training. Not doing everything 2x a week like before. I've learned it simply does not work for me.

Gonna do:
Sun: Chest
Mon:Back
Tues:Arms
Wed: Hamstrings/Calves
Thurs:
Friday: Delts
Saturday: Quads/calves

Something like that, may move the days around. I'd like to do Legs/Chest on weekends.

First day back to the 430AM grind. It went much better than I anticipated. I didn't feel too sluggish and had a solid workout. I'm effing starving already though.

It really can't be beat. I grew to really dislike training in the evenings. Always something coming up with the kids or wife....appointments, practices..... I was back home by 6AM today getting ready for work.

Feels so good to have it out of the way, no matter how bad work gets or what comes up later in the day, then gym is done.

Used to love lifting in the empty gym when I started work later, now all the racks, benches, and machines are full of cell phone browsers taking their 10 min set recoveries.

This is my favorite part. from 445-530 there was probably 10 total people in the gym. No waiting for racks, no people crowding the dumbell area. Couple MILFs walking the floor.

Today was the first time I forgot to set my alarm and woke up at 0500 for my work out anyway.

I got to get mine done in the morning too much going on at night.

It's very keeping a routine if you train in the evenings when you have kids. Stuff always comes up. I have two girls, both who play soccer and do ballet. I hated rushing around and moving days around so much. I'm done lifting now before anyone else in the house is even awake.

Second day was rougher than the first. I was pretty tired. Reworking my sleeping schedule will be the toughest part for me.

Melatonin an hour before bed to get you to nod off without side effects. That stuff works so well!! I use it traveling, at home, anytime I need to get up in a countable number of hours.

Thankfully my sleep has been much better over the last 2 years. Before that I slept horrible, most likely due to late training and preworkout abuse. When I train the AM I'm ready for bed at 9PM and sleep pretty sound.

First week in the books and it was a good one. There is a definite decrease in my strength in the morning ,but such is life. Cutting now anyways so PRs are not on the mind.

Thats the reality I had to face initially. No one is going to wake up at 4 or 5am refreshed and happy. Just gotta suck it up and get it done. I definitely don't get enough sleep during the week. 6 hours a night if I'm lucky, but it is what it is.

It is a lot easier in summer though. Wake up, head to the gym while its warm, get done and its sunny out. Winter is brutal however.

5am crew checking in. Stiff a.f. so just did 30m on the bike today.

Been focusing on my evening routine since i end up getting sucked into whatever I'm doing at night. Fitbit lets you set a "time for bed" reminder, gonna try that out. Sleep is a priority for me so if it's between a solid night sleep and a workout, I choose the sleep. Dialing in my night routine should fix that issue.

Seriously. I cant imagine sleeping past 7AM, and that is when I force myself to stay in bed because I have absolutely nothing to do.
