The biggest positive about being married is not having to think about, or chase after other sloots, having someone who's sworn to be in your corner for life (allegedly) frees up your mind to pursue other things.

Neither of us garden, iron or ever clean bathrooms because we choose not to.
Agreed - we also have a cleaner. She comes once every two weeks and cleans the place top to bottom. Of course we do dishes/cook/laundry, whatever chores in between, but a mature couple will always just talk to one another.

Sometimes on Fridays after leg day I'm honestly dead and lazy, even on Saturday morning. It wouldn't be the first time that I wake up and my wife has brought me coffee in bed saying 'I've done all the meal prep, let's have fun today - maybe if you do laundry that'd be cool' where she does way more than me. But sometimes she's feeling out of it and I carry more. There is no strict calculation here and couples that spend a lot of their time wondering if they 'get enough' are doomed to fail, as was clearly said earlier in the thread. Happy relationships are about an equilibrium, not perfect equality all the time. That's where notions of support and empowerment come into play.

Being happily married is one of the most empowering feelings I have ever felt in my life, srs.

Can confirm.
Sloots come and go but moms are forever

Get to know your parents: you never know when they'll be gone for good.
Be nice to your siblings: they're your best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Enjoy your body: use it every way you can. Don't be afraid of it or of what other people think of it: it's the greatest instrument you'll ever own.

2-3 times a week. but she doesn't cook or clean all that much.

feels good man, make sure you marry a woman that cleans regularly at her current home and that wants to learn how to cook or already knows how to.

A Lot of woman nowadays don't make the effort to try to learn how to cook, they would rather eat out 90% of the time.

Relationships are give and take for sure.

I feel like i got very lucky. Found hbb very young (21) and held. She is leaps and bounds a better cook than any non chef i've ever met (i said i want someone who can cook very early on and she was all in). Sex daily still 10 yrs in. Her only thing is she isn't the greatest cleaner but im kinda anal about that stuff and it calms me so it works out.

On that meal prep time. Really don't need someone to cook for me, everything is cooked and it's really not all that time consuming when you cook in bulk.

My parents have been married 39 years and they could never be considered "traditional", but they did take care of each other. There were times where one did more for the other, just out of basic availability. When my father started his business there were days he was working 16 hours and would come home to a clean home/warm meal and there were days where my mother was traveling for work, and my dad had to work, and come home and take care of the home duties. As they got older and more comfortable financially things didn't change. They would always take turns cooking, if something was dirty you cleaned it. Didn't matter if you were the man or the woman...If it needed to be done, do it.My father left home at 17 and I don't think he ever had the expectation or desire to marry a "Caregiver" he wanted a life partner that would contribute as much to the relationship as he would in all aspects. I grew up in that environment, and that's how I look at my marriage now. My wife likes to work, and we tried the whole stay at home thing and she was miserable. Sure the house was clean, and dinner was cooked, but she wasn't who I married. She was a shell of herself, and I needed her to be the spark plug I married. Once she got back to work everything was back to normal. I get home an hour before her, i'm going to start dinner...If something needs to be cleaned, or a load of laundry thrown in the wash I do it. On the weekends she usually takes care of most things around the house. This give and take has worked for 50 years (39 for my parents, 11 for me) and I don't plan on it changing.

Amazing how the married people in here have legitimate advice on marriage, almost like it was based on experience and not hypothetical trailer skateboard theory.

I think what a lot of people in here are doing is making an argument w/o actually having living it. In the modern day it's hard to make roles cut and dry no matter what perspective you're looking at. But lettuce be real tea, there are things that I'm better at, and things that she's better at and most of them revolve around traditional roles...by nature. If I were in charge of keeping the kids' clothes and rooms in order, it'd be a complete disaster. And if she were in charge of mowing the lawn it'd be the same. Not to say I don't cook, etc (I'm the one that vacuums and prefer to do it over her) but most of the time we split between what we're better at.

Thats why you need to earn enough money to live in a house as a homeowner and can afford to have your wife home raising the kid. She cant do that while working a full time job. The only reason she should need to work is because you purchased a house too big and too expensive. All you need is 2 bedrooms and one bathroom to start a family. Debtcucks will tell you otherwise.

Should probably be living in a studio or 1 bedroom while you are dating and just recently married in order to save 20% for downpayment on a house.
Starter homes that are 2 bed 1 bath still have a kitchen and living/dining room, usually also with a garage, driveway, and yard. If that isnt enough to start your family with one or two children sharing a room then you deserve the despair that comes with an inflated mortgage.

I would never consider dating a woman who doesn't have a well established career she is passionate about. Different strokes for different folks I guess. DINK Master Race here.

Why would you even buy a house if you need a mortgage? Step up your savings game. Buy a house in cash or you are a debtcuck yourself.

In all seriousness, my bf and I have discussed what we would do if we were to have children together. I have zero intention of quitting my job and hedoesn’twant me to. Knowing me, I would resent him for putting me in that position and I find housework incredibly boring. Being in contact with only a baby/toddler for most of the day is not the kind of stimulation I want. Even if I spend a couple hours a day with other mom friends... all we will talk about would be our children. I find that most couples where the wife stay at home after having children... tend to forget how to be a couple once the kids are old enough. They’re all consumed by raising children and the stay at home mom lost her identity as a grown woman who do other things outside of raising children.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s such hard work, and I commend anyone who wants to do that. I know I’m not cut out to handle that kind life.

When I was with my ex, I did most of the cleaning bc... men aren’t very good at cleaning. But at the same time, there was this unspoken expectation that if something breaks, he better fix it ASAP. So we had pretty traditional roles but he cleaned some too and did things like take out the trash. Also divided the bills evenly.

Speaking of bills, I like a dual income household, the security it’d provide. Having seen companies laying off people, I know what it’s like to watch someone else struggling with losing their job. I can’t imagine how hard it would be if that person is the single income in the household. I’d much rather have two incomes than have to find a guy who makes 200k+ a year in order to set aside the kind of money I think we should be setting aside.
They said she's gone too far this time

im sorry to hear you are in a financial position both you and your wife has to work to meet ends meet(assuming here, if you can provide on 1 income why have the other party work?). If one was the sole bread winner and the other had dreams of being a home keeper and mother/wife it would be a good harmony. You see there are house wives that do exist that still teach their daughters at a young age how to sew, cook, clean, garden and be a loving wife/mother. I do not know why you are trying so hard not to be leaf this simple fact. I work with enough women that I heard them say "if i could just be a stay at home wife with kids I would do that instead of coming here to work and have it all go to paying taxes, and then having my net income paid to a baby sitter/daycare" enough to know that the reason many wives with children who work not out of choice but necessity.

why do you think some women are chronic mat leave takers?

The thing is, your gut might tell you otherwise when you're in that situation. That's when people really get miserable, when they stick to a plan that isn't what you're into or what you expect it to be and don't acknowledge your instincts.

my wife does the cooking....she likes doing it, and she's much better at it than I am (I do cook the occasional breakfast/dinner when it's a bad week for her)

I do the laundry, handle the bills, do a fair bit of the cleaning, take out the trash

I take care of my own lunches and dinners through the week...I was single for fukkin years before getting married so I am quite capable of taking care of my own sh*t and don't need a mommy.

My wife loves to cook as well, so on the weekends she makes our breakfasts and we make dinner together as a family (bbq 4 / 5 times a week, even through Canadian winters)

We each have our own responsibilities and share work whenever we can to a) do it together and b) get it done as quickly as possible so we can spend more fun times together.

Single brahs, I am jelly of you for only one reason srs - you don't find hairs all over the house. That's it.

Reading through this thread it seems like every successful relationship is different, but that you've found a division of labor that meets your needs and feels fair to both of you as adults...

why do you think some women are chronic mat leave takers?
Because saving thousands of dollars, driving nicer/safer/more reliable cars, travelling, and mental well-being (probably the most important) are all good things to have.

How the fuk are all women expected to be OK doing menial/repetitive tasks like cleaning and cooking every single damn day without going crazy?

^ That. Imagine learning from age 4 until age 25, only to get married and stay at home for the rest of your life. Some women can handle that & might take up learning new things/languages at home, but i'd wager many or most women nowadays can't handle the soul-sucking repetition.

Miscers want to marry their mothers with the addition of sex and/or a 19 year old from a third world country who speaks no English.

Adult relationship where both people divide labor according to their strengths...what's that?

Most aren't, that's why feminism happened in the first place and a lot of those housewives were on prescription pills to get through their lives at home with three kids while hubby banged his secretary at work.

This "Leave it to Beaver" romantic ideal does not work for a lot of people.

If both people are happy, great but miscers seem to think you either have to marry a screeching career harpy who cuts all her hair off and puts your balls in a jar or a literal slave. No in between.
