How do they get it the worst in 2018?

One of my friends just got hired as a college football coach at a larger school than he previously worked for. He went to college, worked hard, and is now living his dream. Has he got the worst? Both his parents were pharmacists? If it was so awful for them why would they have good jobs and live in a nice house on the water? His sister is a nurse in the ICU, doing exactly what she wanted. The worst?

Or my other friend who is doing his dream job and following in his dad's footsteps as a engineer?

Or the other who is working as a firefighter for FDNY?

Or the other who got a leadership position at a large company?

I just didn't realize it was so horrible and awful for them being black in America in 2018. Maybe because they never had that attitude that they were held down by white people. Or believe the false narrative that cops were evil to them. Maybe they believed the truth that if they worked hard maybe they could achieve things regardless of their race. I can't think of times they hyper-focused on things happening because they were black, or complain that they would never achieve in life because of racism.

Did they experience racism? I'm sure at times they did. But they didn't let that determine their lives or think everyone was racist. I grew up in NYC with them and also was subject to racism for being the sole white guy at times. I never let it affect me. I wasn't raised to see people like that. Yes despite what people who scream racism like you think, a white person can be subject to that as well. But the constant focus on race in this country is what causes problems. That last a-hole in the White House did terrible things for race relations.

A lot of these guys lack good role models. I'll bet you most of them didn't have their fathers in their lives growing up. Add that to the poverty, failing school systems in the area, and the fact that everyone else is in a gang (and if you aren't, you got no one else to protect you), and you're stuck in the system.

yeah because most of them dont know anyone from the hood lmao. everyone i knew who grew up in those conditions and turned out normal were the shut ins and people who spent their entire youth playing video games (keeping them off the street). but it costs more $ to fix that situation than it does to maintain it, which is why it aint going to change.
