This.

Anybody who's never stolenanythingare first to not have a leg to stand on.

IDGAF if it was taking one too many ketchup packets, it shows opportunistic nature.
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

Wouldn't using logic make them realize that overall this is a bad idea. Catching 2 bums and an old deaf guy was worth the backlash?

They should keep doing stuff like this since Chicago solves so many murders with the help of their ever growing bond with the community. It seems to be working out nicely

Keep up the good work Chicago you'll have the streets free of crime in no time at all!

Backlash? You cant really get any lower than where they're at now.

> Focus on criminals who are mostly(read always) black
> Upset "community"
> "Community" starts rioting, canvassing local politicians
> Politicians stick their dick deep inside LEOs and the chiefs
> Police pull back and prosecutors start throwing cases
> Violent crimes increase exponentially
> Community cries out

Its like this in all places in the West with non-white ghettos and a majority white police force in a majority white country. Take London for instance. Stop and search was stopped and criminals had it easy. Coupled with fewer cops and few stiff sentences the criminals went out of control.

> "Community" wants to rally around and stop it.
> majority of victims are non-white

You cant win.

The smartest thing to do is to contain them in their own little areas and make sure its contained to those areas. Let the "community" sort itself out but that wont happen I am 100% certain.

In California you can go inside a store and steal anything as long as its under $950 and its just a simple misdameanor with no jail...

"Petty theft. California law defines petty theft as the theft of any property with a value of $950 or less. Most petty thefts are charged as misdemeanors. "

Entrapment defense is there for a reason. A powerful enough organization can persuade nearly anyone to commit a crime.

Say you are an average Joe, and your school buddy comes to you and shows that you can make 10M ripping off some rich and immoral Arab with no possibility of getting caught.

The dude being interviewed had a point though.

They were doing this because people were stealing from a freight yard.
Why not set this whole thing up...

...at the freight yard?

It is a little odd, no?
At the very least poorly planned.

Because they already steal from the freight yard. A victimless crime according to some people...

Man that video is a textbook example ofthe bigotry of low expectations.

"You expect us NOT to steal?!?"

Someone explain to me how this is productive/beneficial? To me you are just creating criminals that are more likely to steal when they come out. I'm not talking about right or wrong, I am talking about the point/goal of these stings? It's not like you're locking away thieves for life, you are just sending them in to jail for a few days?

Is it also a set up when a civilian leaves a laptop/shoes/purse in their car and someone steals it? Don't steal other peoples chit.

I don't have a problem with it because I hate thieves. I once had someone break into my car and break into my glove box to steal my cell phone when I was at the gym. Another car I had before that was stolen and totaled. I'm not rich by any means. I don't have a lot. So when someone steals something that I bought with my own hard earned money, when I don't have a lot, then that really pisses me off I wish I could kill whoever was responsible. If I was rich then I wouldn't give a **** if someone stole my phone, but it's when you already don't have a lot. So the people that get arrested with that bait car deserve it and I hope they do more set ups like that. I don't have a problem with drug dealers or prostitutes or pimps because none of that effects me. But when people steal from me, I have a problem with it.

By that logic, why lock away any thieves? You’re not locking them away for life & the chances of them repeat offending is high.

It’s not “creating criminals” it’s exposing them. These aren’t law abiding people just going about their business, they’re lowlife scum who are going to steal in any situation they can.
They’re not turning future doctors into criminals.

You didn't answer my question, you just responded with another one. Why not use these police resources/officers to stop thieves stealing from actual citizens and such? This is creating crime, not preventing it.

What they're doing is actually a felony, and they're not creating criminals, if they were criminals to begin with.

It’s not creating crime, it’s catching criminals in one place.

When they set up sting operations to catch kiddie fiddlers, is that creating ped0philes?
