I’ve started reading up on the keto diet and watching some YouTube videos and they do make it sound like rocket surgery. It’s like even if you **** up by one carb all of a sudden your whole day is shot.

I’m going to try the Atkins diet because it’s more of a plant-based diet. I couldn’t imagine following the Keto diet to the letter and drinking something called bullet proof coffee with butter or fat bombs. I’d be covered in cellulite if I tried that

Yeah no need to jump right in to something complicated. Not sure I buy into the whole timeline for going into ketosis for EVERYONE. If I go a half day or longer without carbs, I have many symptoms of ketosis (particularly the breath). But then again, I probably have a bit more fuel to work with if you know what I'm saying.

I think it's just a way to get calories in without adding sugar. I tried it, normally take my coffee black. But if I was forced to add something to my coffee, I'd probably do the butter over creamer. But the texture is weird.

Do any of you regularly eat liver or other organ meats? I ordered some beef liver tablets to see if there's anything I'm missing out on. It got me thinking if there's a good way to work that in, thinking just like a finger sized cut chopped up and mixed in with our eggs in the morning. Not sure if that'd be a good enough mask for the flavor though.

Also happy anniversary, JR.

Years ago I did Keto. It just depends on being able to be consistent with it. I believe it is more difficult to maintain. The rapid weight loss was water and glycogen. Other than that, it was just controlling your calories to lose weight. I find a Carb cycle much easier to use..for me.

I did a little over a year on keto (using a TKD approach). Lost a ton of fat. I have always done better leaning out on low carb, so it was pretty easy for me. I've done it off and on over the years. Right now I'm trying out Intermittent Fasting just to see how I like it and to try and drop some lard that I packed on.

Keto is a dangerous game. Cause like you said, couple carbs over-kicked out of ketosis. Also, it’s not maintainable. Once you stop, your body starts storing those carbs like a squirrel gathering nuts for winter because it has no idea when the next time it’s gonna get them is.

On that note, I gotta start eating cleaner and stop drinking. I’m strong as a ox and fat as a fat bastard ox.

That’s kind of why I like that Atkins plan they lay it out in 4 stages. I’ve tried calorie counting for so long I used to average about 1500 cals a day and down to 1300 or lower when I’m trying to lose weight and the only thing that ends up happening is my hair falls out and I feel like ****. After taking a good hard look at my diet I realized I’m eating tons of carbs and not doing really anything to burn them off. I’ll go to the gym sometimes for two hours doing nothing but hard-core cardio on the days I’m not lifting but that doesn’t make up for the other 22 hours of my day that’s sedentary.

I have a doctors appt. today, with a new doctor, I’m going to see what he says about all this.

Keep in mind too that there are lots of hidden carbs, or maybe not hidden (but you think it's healthy) in cereals, yogurts, oats, protein bars, etc. I'm not the most nutritional minded person on the planet, but lordy do I cringe when someone says they eat a healthy breakfast full of oats sprinkled on their Greek yogurt.

And, lifting allows the body to utilize it's calories almost 24hrs a day, while cardio just uses them for a few minutes.

I would still recommend going back to counting cals at 1300 and carb cycle. I do wed and sat. Wednesday I focus on adding rice, wheat bread, potatoes, etc... Saturday is having a burger and fries. Otherwise, for me, it's 50gr a day right before or after a workout.

This is me. When I'm trying to drop a few pounds, I just try to stick with whole foods. Stay away from most processed stuff (bread, pizza, pasta, crackers, etc.) . I've noticed that when I do this and track calories, the amount of calories consumed is dropped significantly.

Ive done Keto and it works great. It's really not rocket science.

Track your macros, keep net carbs (total carbs-fibre) under 20-30. It means you will be eating meat and vegetables and not much else.

The fat bombs and exogenous ketones and putting butter in your coffee is mostly a waste of time. People also spend hours making concoctions out of almond flour and monk sugar and shredded cauliflower and coconut oil trying to replicate bread and pasta and carby foods. Spoiler alert: They all suck so its mostly a waste of time.

You lose 10lbs of water in about 5 minutes because you burn out all your glycogen and the water it holds, then your body switches to ketones.

After that your hormones level, your hunger falls to nothing, and you start to lose all interest in food.

Also, Keto is for cucks. The more I read and research the more I'm leaning towards IF for dieting. But for now, calories in, calories out and watch yo Macros.

Been doing this. Currently 189, started at 209 about 2.5 months ago. I eat less, but IF just makes it "easier" if I'm not eating (still have creamer in coffee for example) until lunch and stop by ~8. You get used to not eating until lunch. Also makes me curious about when I'm bulking how this will work out. LOL

It does. Kids of that age were born in the year 2000. The year I graduated HS and joined the military. I've been in longer than some kids who are joining now. Also, I remember coaching little league years ago and all the kids at that time were 9 or 10 and born in 99 or 2000. Now they're adults.

It’s seems like that but honestly I live a very sedentary life. I work from home and handle bills and different things online. I’ll have the kids run errands for me sometimes. Really the only time I do anything is when I’m at the gym. The house stays clean almost always because I only have my youngest part time, he takes care of all the yard work and trash. I’m like a sloth Srs
