SHE ****ED HIM OVER she went and ****ed another guy while they were together and then randomly asked for divorce when OP thought everything was going great. He is at a stage now where he feels like i am going to SHOW her she aint getting **** that bitch.... he definitely doesnt sound like the guy whose heart is broken and hes not moaping around he is clearly propped up and ready to fight he has shown by getting a lawyers immediately, getting evidence, and planning on using his dads money to make sure he dont get her money. Thats not the attitude of someone who is at the stage of being heartbroken that is attitude of someone that is ready to fight because he is PISSED.

Imo heartbreak will set in later on he just found out about this.

Long term relationships take a fukton of work. A lot of people opt out of the work and would rather just hop over the fence every time they see grass they think is greener
Not a lot of comfort, but this is likely. Whatever her issues are she still has them. Maybe she will work it out. Won't be because of the new guy though.

I highly suggest that you consult at least 3 attorneys. Of course they want to get your business. Just because one has a reputation as the hardest ball-buster in town doesn't mean they are the best choice. You want one that will work smart, not just run up a big fee.

I do think that the below is likely true. I'm in a different state and here infidelity doesn't bar alimony; divorce is all considered no fault. I was told that proving infidelity really only helps with custody if i wanted to try and go all out for full custody.

Property will still get split 50/50. Child support will depend on the percentage of time each parent has the kid vs income.

It is possible that OP could collect alimony if she earned more.

As for the danger of pity fuks....technically you can do whatever you want without repercussions once you are separated.

More importantly, OP already has a lawyer, and will get better advice from him than the misc.
It is a chitty situation to be in and I'm in it up to my tits. Married 13 years, together about 16 and my STBX didn't take up with a co-worker. Instead it was the family member of a co-worker. She and my STBX have been quite open including her staying nights in the house and spending time with our daughter.

Personally have made it a point to not drive a wedge between my STBX and our daughter. Dealing with another woman horning in taking over my home and cozying up to my daughter when we had only been living apart less than a month and hadn't even filed yet...ouch.

If we can come to agreement on the numbers I've been told our divorce could be final by the end of September. Talk about mixed feelings. I've read you get a second round of grief after the divorce is final...yay.

Hang in there and do try to be at least a little glad that it has happened while you are young and have a good shot at finding a relationship that sticks if that is what you want. Try to lead with your head and not your heart.

Sorry brother but the infidelity has no effect on the outcome of your divorce in NC.

Unless you successfully sue the guy for alienation of affection.

Marriage is a work of effort, when girls or guys say I just didn't love them the same...well of course. I think women just have misconceptions that the guy they marry has to love them the same like day 1 forever. A common complaint amongst my EXs. It takes effort from both ends, and the realization that two people can't love each other perfectly forever and ever, and there will be up and downs. It's surprising how many women especially just don't realize that. That coupled with society empowering single motherhood etc, and divorcing favoring women it makes it that much easier for an immature woman to act impulsively. And honestly if someone got to the point where they were doing something so unattractive that you not only wanted to leave them, you actively seeked a connection with someone else - that's kind of ****ed up. Girls are the worst at this.

My ex did the exact same chit on me. First she tells me she stopped loving me a long time ago after she dumped me (but simply monkeybranched during our relationship) instead of trying to fix the relationship, talk about it or let me know about it.

Then she breaks up over a fight which we usually resolve within a day (she kept texting another guy), simply because she was already done with me, could use it as an excuse to leave me so she could become a hoe after. When she left me, she fukked 5 different guys within 5 weeks.
All i can say is i dodged a bullet. But it still hurts.
I hope you won't get screwed over money wise. Let this be a lesson to you. No woman can be trusted and they're cold as hell.

got through 2 pages and wanted to chime in already, first thing i noticed its your age, im 31 this year and have no intentions of touching marriage at all, fuk that... i have way too much invested in my home and investment accounts to go all in on "marriage".... and yes i do have a gf, been with her for a very long time but i dont want to make this post about me...

i saw you posted she cheated and that will help you in court?.. how?.... i know plenty of co-workers who's wife have cheated and they got taken to the cleaners in court in regards to child support and alimony.... and im in law enforcement.... what exactly do you have that will favor you in court??

Fuk you, in the moment it seems unthinkable. I was blindsided and thought everything was going great.

As I have found out more over the past couple of weeks, it turns out you are more accurate than you think...

I did until I found out she was fukkin a coworker

-Not an excuse, but I was in the military and a lot of us end up marrying you (I guess we are afraid to be alone?) so early 20s

I'm sure OP was "absolutely sure", as well as most men are "absolutely sure", before proposing.

But after a few years (Ffs, even a few months in some relationships)

-What if she gets bored of you because you've become "predictable, not spontaneous enough"?
-What if she "still loves you, just not in love with you"?
-What if she meets a Chad and "got drunk and couldn't control herself"?
-What if she decides that she settled down too early and still wants to "explore her sexuality"?
-What if she "fell out of love"?
-What if she's actually incompatible with your beliefs on future kids, religion, etc?
-What if she feels like she settled and deserves a better man in terms of money, genetics, etc?
-What if she just straight up wants a divorce because she wants to be single?
-What if she feels like you're holding her back from greatness?

Women can change completely overnight as in OPs case.

I got a buddy who I work with. Hell of a guy and good firefighter. His soon to be ex-wife had an affair on him. They had a couple kids together, she had a kid prior to them meeting. Anyways, she had an affair on him, is a catholic, so she wants to go through all the correct proceedings so that after shes had her fun she can still sleep at night and feel good about the fact she has been cheating on her husband. **** like this boys makes you question monogamy. My buddy moved out, meanwhile shes still with this other guy...****ty situation because they have 2 young kids.

OP in your defense yall did get married too young. People change a lot from their early 20s to their early 30s. Best time to get settled is when you know what you want and who you are. At least you dont gotta waste anymore time on her. Go out there, date, have a little fun, and then find you a good one to settle down with. You'll be alright. Take 'er a day at a time. Continue to be strong for your kid, and for the love of God don't allow her to take ya for everything in court. Good Luck.
