A wedding is about inviting your guests (friends, family) to party with you and your beloved, to celebrate that union. It still didn't happen. A couple 10K gifts doesn't make that scenario any more practical. Say you got 20K in gifts from 2 people alone. That'd still be every other single person giving a $230 gift; but a married couple with two children is getting you one gift, probably worth $100, not a gift worth $230 from each spouse and each child.


Everyone I've spoken to that has had a decently expensive wedding like myself (about 26-28K or something, I forget) gets about a 1:3 return. I got nearly 10K in gifts and cash.
