I'm fairly unsure of his ability to think straight on this given the story about his daughter. At the end of the day this isn't his area but whatever works for him.

The carnivore diet is legit. The reason why you think that he is being "crazy" here is because you have been conditioned to believe a lie that is installed to make you sick. Your mental state is absolutely affected by your diet, so why would you be so shocked to learn that eating a completely unnatural diet loaded in grains and carbs with minimal animal fats (the "bad ones" that your body actually needs) probably has something to do with the out of nowhere meteoric rise in mental health problems that have been observed in the past ~50 or whatever years?

What if it worked for him? I don't think he suggested that every person on the face of the earth should start eating nothing but meat.

He definitely understands mental models and how/why people behave the way they do on a micro and macro scale.
But being an expert in one area typically means youโre not going to have time to really understand other fields.
Anyways there isnโt enough data out there on the carnivore diet for me to buy into it. I definitely think that you really have to approach your diet from a dr. Rhonda Patrick perspective (getting your genes looked at) if you really want to know exactly how you should eat. Otherwise I think the paleo type diets are generally a good enough goal for most. Then again Iโm not an expert either.
From what Iโve heard his daughter has serious auto immune issues when she eats anything but meat so Iโm sure he has a bit of a bias.
Side note- from a bodybuilding perspective I would imagine a short term 30-60 day carnivore diet during cut season would be pretty ideal.

Your government-supported "health diet" consisting of loads of vegetables, fruits, legumes and grains is a logistical impossibility in nature, so how could this be what nature intended you to thrive on? Bananas don't exist in Canada you idiot, even potatoes are native to South America and would be non-existent to anyone from Europe or anywhere else on the planet. Pretty much all of the fruits you eat are man-made through selective breeding and genetic alteration. Wild apples taste like **** and aren't loaded with sugars like the man-made apples you find in the supermarket.

He seems to be just sharing his experiences in controlling his auto-immune disease (his daughter has the same issues).
What specifically do you have a problem with? I don't think he claims to be a nutritional expert, he says that repeatedly.

This guy acts like an expert in all fields. I wouldn't even care to listen to any of his advice on topics outside his expertise. Even then, I'm not particularly a fan of his. I find other people to have much better advice that resonates way more.
What's next listening to Jordan Peterson's advice on interior design? Guy is literally developing a cult following.

Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

He does the carnivore diet to help support his daughter.
His daughter suffers from numerous life threatening illnesses and the carnivore diet seems to be helping her.
Many misinformed people posting in here.

not a huge fan of his but in this case he repeatedly states that he's not recommending the diet to anyone and that he's just telling an anecdote of how it helped his family's autoimmune problems

Nothing he said sounds crazy. As someone who has done multiple extreme activities and played around with various diets... a lot of the things he said correlate with things I've noticed.
- The sensitivity when adding bad foods back
- The radical weightloss
- The mood/depression change
- Changes in complexion
- Sleep regulation
- Inflammation
Like he said... a lot of can/can't depends on your genetics. And that can vary wildly even within your own family.
From what I've seen... if you don't spend the time to figure this out as a young adult... it can hit you like a ton of bricks in middle age. I've watched people who were seemingly okay one year all of a sudden get debilitating health and gut problems the next. It's almost as if the body says, "Nope... can't fight the good fight anymore... I'm done."

It's ironic how hard people on this forum will bash religious people... yet when it comes to their ingrained health/diet beliefs they are incapable of being skeptic.

Outside of nutrition. Toddlers also naturally squat when they want to chit. Why? Because it unkinks the colon and allows chit to pass much easier. As adults we're habitually trained to use the toilet which causes health problems. Kids also naturally slouch. Why? Because it's actually more ergonomical to flatten out than it is to sit up straight with your entire upper body pressing on your lumbar.
