Serena got beat by a younger, better, more focused player. She hasn't won a tournament since having her baby and it's dawning on her that she won't be able to bounce back and be dominant as she once was especially now that she'll be 37 this month. She thought she was destined to fulfill this feminist narrative that women can juggle motherhood and career. But that ain't happening so she had a mental breakdown.

Looks like she's going to be fined $17k for the outburst.

@hockeyman- venus has some kind of chronic health issue and both of them are old- serena just had a baby and had a pulmonary embolism post baby at 36. notsureifsrs.

anyway, my take:

1-the initial coaching violation was a stupid call. In this regard she had a point. However the coaching violation means absolutely nothing in isolation. Her case for "they have it in for me" is that there’s always a focus on her roiding cos no one can believe her dominance and her muscle mass compared to other women. However she also has a track record of being an *******. In 2009 she was fined 175k for telling a line judge she’d shove a ball down her throat.

2- It was a harsh call from the umpire, but ultimately her coach admitted he was coaching and everything the umpire did was completely within and following the laws of the game. The fact that the reffing has been inconsistent is not his fault. His 3 other violations issued this year were all against men. If she had controlled herself a coaching violation means nada.

3- she was essentially being a big baby not getting her way. Her theatrics have overshadowed the fact that Osaka was kicking her ass all game and deserved to win and would have won regardless.

4- I lost all respect for her when she then tried to make it a gender issue like she’s complaining on behalf of all women. Absolutely not, she was trying to win a grand slam for herself and was upset things didn’t go her way and lost her **** and is now trying to make it some bigger cause to look less of a wanker. The “this doesn’t happen to men” argument has no basis when u then go on to smash a racket and insult the umpire on like 3-4 more outbursts which no man or woman has ever done. Even feeling aggrieved, a champion who had won 20something grandslams and loves being a role model should show more class and know how to handle that sitch.

5- and finally, I feel most sorry for Osaka, a 20yr old in her first major final, against her lifelong hero, dominates against her and then is reduced to tears and can’t even celebrate beating the GOAT to a grand slam because she decides to be a huge baby and make it about her. She literally didn’t celebrate and sobbed sad tears throughout the winning ceremony. Serena knew what she was doing- and especially in front of an ignoramus american "home" crowd full of SJWs who would eat serenas turds given the chance, with pitchforks- knows that would happen with the booing etc so adding a cheap “let’s not boo guys” after turning the whole thing into a circus is so cheap and superficial she ain’t fooling no one and looks a huge ******* tbh

plus classy sport will classy. not supposed to cheer on opponents errors, only on a clear winner. so it only makes sense a coach can't just yell out wtf to do during the point.

\she needed a out, someone or something else to blame. of course it isn't her fault. one of thew many downfalls of the female gender, lack of accountability

she should've just walked away with the point violation. my understanding is when she broke 2 of her rackets, her strikes accumulated to 3 and she lost a point.

if i understood this correctly, she should've just stfu and refocused on her game.

its funny because osaka broke her to take the lead 4-3. serena knew she was going to lose

So i think it was due to:

-coaching violation for coaching (obvs).
-second violation for smashing the racket- point
-Then mouthed off to the umpire on two separate occasions demanding apology, calling him a thief and a liar etc. resulting in third violation and conceding a game (though she was already losing)
