Only know two couples who are divorced, both bot married early 20s, both got divorced early 30s, both ended amicably and worked the details out without too much of a fight. Shared custody and all that too.

I like to think if you picked a good person they will not try to screw you over. I know if I get married, and we fall apart and have to get a divorce (assuming cheating isn’t involved), I'd try to settle it as fairly as I could. Don’t understand how someone goes from choosing to have someone as a partner for life and caring for them deeply to wanting to destroy their life. Makes no sense.
They said she's gone too far this time

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In on another thread where apparently reality goes something like this:

Man marries woman he loves, never thinks things'll go sour. After 10 years of him earning 10k/day, and her sitting around on Instagram (no kids), she divorces him for someone who DMd her, and in the divorce proceedings she was entitled to 95% of the assets gained in the marriage.

Hint: this isn't how the law, or life works in any corner of the planet I know of, including the U.S. I am 38 and know exactly 1 married couple that ended in divorce, and here's the story:

He (normal) and she (from a wealthy family in Spain). He starts earning more and more money as his career progresses, and they have a kid. As he earns more money she starts loathing him and becomes increasingly communist. She eventually divorces him and proceeds to seek half the assets (she's entitled to - community of acquisition) and they split the assets, she goes her own way (she's a tour guide now whereas he still makes a lot of money) and there's a small amount of child support (he has partial custody).

Now if someone wants to say that 'he was a cuck', well...the day of his divorce he bought a nice Audi, went on vacation for a few weeks. Banging Croatian babes throughout the vacation. Came back (I saw him) looking 10 years younger. Yeah 'half the assets' were gone, but the guy still had plenty of money. And she's a bitter tour guide (single, no other guy was involved).

This is often how reality works, it is far less sensational than threads like this make out. And sometimes...divorce is good for both parties. People can change over time in a marriage and sometimes in wildly unpredictable ways - I mean this woman above is from a rich, rich Spanish family, and she...hated the fact that her husband became increasingly materialistic as he earned more money in his career. Who could have predicted that? Just...meh at all this talk about 'cucks' and 'morons' when it comes to something like this.

3) In Cali, you can't have an "at fault" clause since Cali doesn't look at fault in divorce court.

There are some other "don'ts" also, just can't think of them at the moment. The problem is always going to be that during the drafting of the contract, the only absolutes are what is in hand right now.
Also, the more assets acquired while married, the more willing one spouse may be to break the contract.

Ah, see, there's some other requirements.

this is why you marry a girl who has a good job. not that it won't happen, but chances are, they won't be fighting to take the toaster and you don't pay alimony.

Hate to tell you bruh, but this is anecdotal and a damn near best case scenario. I know plenty of divorced people, from late 20s to late 50s and MANY of them had their financial livelihood destroyed. Guys paying alimony, child support, she keeps the house, while being shacked up with her new guy (without getting remarried of course, would cancel some of the judgement) as 57 year old newly single Tom carries on in a 1 bedroom apt.

This is quite common in the US in my exp across 4 states, although still anecdotal.

Add to that MANY more guys that are still married to their wife after 25 years because as they say, "It's cheaper to keep her"

Prenups don't work boyo

Either marry a woman with the same or more income/assets as you or don't get married at all.

Soon if won't matter anyway. They will introduce cohabitation laws everywhere. So, if you live under same roof as conjugal partners for 2 years you will be considered legally married in the eyes of the law with all the outstanding responsibilities.

This. I hardly know any people who are divorced, and the ones that I do know are extremely dysfunctional people so it's not surprising. Don't know a single guy with any divorce horror stories whatsoever like what you see posted on the misc. I know divorce is prevalent, but you guys blow things out of proportion.

Divorce laws definitely need reform.

My brother in law paid his ex out a lump sum for alimony/spousal support.

He has half custody, works full time and pays $1700 a month for "child support"while his ex works casual (30ish a week)

By that logic it costs $1700 a month per kid.

It's not child support its spousal support.

A typical divorce where the man doesn't lose half his chit and end up with his life destroyed by a demonic woman and courts that are dying to fuk him over -- well, that doesn't make a very interesting story now does it.

divorce laws are not sexist; they are purely based on numbers. It just so happens that the man usually makes more so its the man who gets screwed financially

Everyone I know who's divorced either remarried fairly quickly or has gone on to divorce several times. Clearly it's the end of the world since they keep doing it.

Can't wait to find the right woman and get married. There are lots of benefits, mostly psychological I guess. Minimize the risk by finding someone of good moral character, values marriage for all the right reasons etc., set your bar high, test and observe their actions.

Don't live your life in fear and paranoia, you miss out on great stuff -- I have. I used to think there was literally no value in marriage over LTR - technically there doesn't have to be, but in reality there is for most people as long as they truly value marriage and what it entails (i.e. it's for the children).

Your position sounds pretty similar to what mine was a few years ago, very protective and defensive. Not a bad way to be, but you can overdo it.

That's exactly what you mentioned, cheating. Imagine your lifelong partner going who you put your full trust in, go cheat on you(probably for weeks or months instead of 1x in most cases).

Lawd I have a couple of friends that almost got divorced. The wife has always been such a bitch to him cause he’s a nice guy with occasional rage outbursts due to her **** tests. He worked to support her for around 4 years and gets laid off. He couldn’t find a job for 2 months so she started working and bought a pack of cigarettes... he asked if he could have one when they were drunk and she said those are “my cigarettes”. He exploded and they fought and she scratched him. They didn’t talk for weeks until he decided to tell her it was his fault and that he would stop drinking. (Lmao) so they didn’t get a divorce but she cane close to divorcing him for something that was her fault for angering him... needless to say.. she has a choke collar placed firmly around his testicles now

The historian and philosopher in me always gets a cathartic laugh when viewing the weakness and degeneracy of our present day. Man has fought for untold tens of thousands of years and beyond to assert his supremacy over the forces of nature, animals and his fellow rivals. Now at what should be the pinnacle of his achievement, he is enslaved by the very societies that he forged from nothing.

All the while pounding his chest and declaring himself "free" as he has been reduced to nothing but a beast of burden to pay taxes for his very enslavement. Oh well, at least we have high definition sports to watch!!!!

Once made equal to man, woman becomes his superior - Socrates

She fairly gets to keep her share and you get tossed to the curb...good try boyo
If you bought the house together/while together, a prenup won't matter. If you came into the relationship with the home, you don't even need a prenup.

Or you marry a woman that makes the same/more than you, or one that isn't an entitled kunt (riskier). If the guy is willingly marrying a woman not working/making much less, and is putting much more money into the home/cars/travels etc, it's partly his fault.

Divorce laws/proceedings do need to be looked into, though.
