Instagram is cancer
The world would be so much better without it srs. I mean all social media is a plague (I still have ******** and use snapchat a lot tho) but instagram is a special breed of toxic.
Seriously, platform is full of self-obsessed narcissists that live in the opinion of others and plan every second of their lives to gain as many likes and followers as possible, since they've got nothing going for them irl.
Instasloots also were slowly damaging my opinion of women irl, especially when some of them seem like otherwise nice sweet people in my classes. They say they're more than a sex object but then do nothing but post soft-core pronography of themselves with idiotic pseudo-inspirational quotes #grindin #workhardplayhard #fukkinkillme
Then theres the obsession with followers and likes and being an "influencer" and instagram model and all. Like how did a simple photo-sharing site get to this level???
The sheer narcissism of the platform just disgusts me srs. And studies show that it heavily increases your risk for depression and anxiety. My ex wasn't bad about it at all, but even with her I'd often have to take like 20-30 pics of her in a bikini before we'd go into the ocean or something. If I find a hot, 20-something girl w/o an instagram I'll feel like I've hit the lottery

Used to be a lot better around 2012. I remember you could see who viewed your videos which encouraged networking. I could checkout their videos in return. Now the views are anon. Then it started getting flooded with fake profiles. Then came the purchasing of likes/followers. Then came all of the bootleg companies. It just got to be too much

Once I stopped being dismissive and envious about social media, I was able to tolerate it more. Now I just take pointers from IG like how to get more reach, what places I want to travel to, etc.
There's still some guys/girls that are wayyyy too attention whoring, so I usually scroll right by those. But all they're doing is highlighting how shallow and thirsty people are, which we knew already.

Depends. I stopped following all the people who only posted selfies, started following businesses, travel spots, sports teams, and kept the few friends who post things like where they're at or restaurants that are good, or the occasional family/relationship update that I may care about. Same thing with all social media, just be extra mindful of who/what you follow and it becomes much less toxic.

I like IG to follow athletes and hobbies of mine like guns, motorcycles, enterpreneurship motivation etc. But every now and then I go down a rabbit hole and visit a girls page who has 50k followers and absolutely no redeemable qualities besides looks and half nude bikini shots.
