You don’t have to go to a dentist but you have to floss daily and get an electric tooth brush

I've been using an electric toothbrush for years. Wish that was enough. I'm going to start being diligent with flossing and am also getting a new electric toothbrush that has a blue light thing to clear the bristles of the periodontal bacteria between uses.

Wife is a dental assistant. Just brush and floss regularly and you’ll be fine. It’s not nearly as bad as it sounds, it can just get bad if you don’t take care of your teeth.
And relief washes over me in an awesome wave

Keep using that chlorhexidine rinse, brush, and floss and you should be good. Periodontitis usually occurs from built up plaque and calculus irritating your gum. After your deep cleanings are done, good oral hygiene and your 3 month periodontal maintenance should be good enough to keep your teeth and let the dentist monitor the progress of your periodontitis. If you are under control for each of these recall appointments, you won't need to get a deep cleaning with anesthesia and just get a regular cleaning.

Buy an electric toothbrush if you already don't own one.

Floss nightly.

Brush gently with the electronic toothbrush - don't force it upon your teeth and gums. Just have it lightly against your teeth and let the swirling brush head do its thing.

You're in teeth saving mode now...best of luck.

This is true. Its been 2 years since I cut out sugar from my diet and my front teeth have slowly been remineralizing (they used to be translucent). Unfortunately, my lost enamel will never come back so a couple of my teeth are sensitive as hell.

I didn't give you permission to reply to me. Listen, it was entertaining, first. Hell, it was actually funny.

But now I'm getting the feeling that you actually think that you're on my level. From the day I was born, I was destined for success, you little ****. I was brought into this world by a software engineer and and a prominent actuary, both of Norwegian descent. From the moment that the ****ing curtains were raised, I was set to dominate the STEM fields. And because I had guardians that actually cared about me, I flourished. Pretty soon, I was placed into a special school of correspondence, specifically I.M Gelfand's school for gifted children in New England. I not only reached my parents' expectations, but I passed them with flying colors. I had raw talent. I was ****ing better. I was surrounded by 6th graders, many from Hong Kong, whom were smarter than half the posters in this ****ing thread. And now, where am I?

In MIT, getting my double BS in Electrical Engineering and Physics, with a Stanford-Binet tested IQ of 147.

Get this through your head: you are nothing. I am worth more than your entire goddamn family. I'm smarter than you, better looking than you, taller than you, wealthier than you, and more employable than you. While you type out another post to get cheap laughs, I'll be simultaneously working with the brightest minds in the world and fornicating with my beautiful girlfriend. It gets on my nerves when people pretend to be better than me.

Know your place, you ****ing vermin. Never, ever reply to my posts, again.

Heard about that, through minerals in our food, but due to acidic diet and other **** the rate of enamel loss would be too great so the mineralization wouldn't matter.

- MAKE SURE you clean your teeth 2x a day, and FLOSS
- Periodontal disease is an insidious disease, which is totally preventable
- I'd recommend buying chlorhexidine-mouthwash, and using that 2x a week at night before bed.
- Moderate the amount of sugary drinks you consume. The sugar and acidity are directly correlated with caries (dental decay)

And this is where problems probably started. The thing with individual teeth, is that they can have pits for food traps inter-proximally (between teeth). Given you have confirmed periodontal disease, I'd also recommend looking into getting "interdental brushes". They are colour-coded to suit the embrasure (space) type between your teeth and are better than floss.

Once space widens around the teeth (periodontal ligament area), it's super easy for bacteria to infiltrate the area and over time erode more of the PDL, causing local inflammation and bleeding (associated gingivitis).

If you are game, feel free to post up any screenshots of x-rays you've had on here, OP.

Usual stuff that you probably already know

-Brushing, get the technique down and make sure the bristles are getting into the pockets of the gum (look up modified bass technique). And ensure you use an electric
-Interdental cleaning regularly, whether floss or interdental brushes and you can supplant with (but not replace with) a water floss
-Chlorhexidine mouthwash, it has a tendency to stain teeth so don't have to use it daily but a few times a week would do you some good
-Diet, reduce the frequency of sugars and acidic food products to 4x a day max (including meals)
-Regular dental visits for professional scaling/debridement and monitoring of disease progression, I see all my perio patients every 3 months unless mild
-No smoking if you do smoke at all

And best of luck with your tooth goals of 2020 and beyond

lol you will be fine op, chillax. So long as your teeth haven't fallen out now, they won't in future so long as you sort the problem out asap. Your dentist will help get you back on track and then you just gotta manage it better. Buy some interdental brushes and use them every day going forward. Get the TePe angle ones for the teeth at the back. So long as you use them every day and brush with an electric tooth brush you will be fine. Also search for correct technique for electric toothbrush video on youtube and make sure you brush like that going forward.

That's life OP. You're 28 which means you're not a little kid anymore. Our bodies start falling apart at some point.
Your dentist or hygienist will keep your teeth clean every 3-4 months. At home you should keep em clean with brushing 2x a day with a soft bristle toothbrush without applying too much force to the gums (electric toothbrushes are great as some can measure time and force applied). Floss once a day.
That's all you can do brah but the good news is that if your disease is mild that will be typically all you need to do.
Did the dentist or hygienist do periodontal charting? (aka little pokes around every tooth while reading out a number)?

You can brush and floss all you want but a high carb / plant based diet will destroy teeth and gums regardless. Try doing keto or zero carb for a while and see if you notice an improvement. Vitamin K2 is only found in animals, plants contain K1.

This study doesn't mention enamel at all. Enamel proteins are secreted by ameloblasts which are only present during tooth development; after eruption there are no cells capable of secreting enamel. Small areas of demineralisation can be remineralised with fluoride, calcium in saliva, etc, but cavitated/lost enamel cannot be regrown, certainly not with anything from your diet. Junk science is junk

This, I went to the dentist 3 months ago, before that I hadn't gone to the dentist in 8 years, no issues, no bleeding while they were shanking my gums either. You're just nasty OP.
