First of all, my pittie girl is IN FACT the sweetest dog on the planet. Its verified. Depending on what study/ website you read, Pit Bulls barely, or don't, crack the top 10 most aggressive dog breeds. They can be one of the most dangerous breeds however, because when they are aggressive they have a strong bite and don't quit until their objective is complete (attack is over/ target eliminated). I've been bitten by an old cranky ass boxer dog twice and countless times by chihuahuas and dachshunds, which happen to be the 2 most aggressive breeds.
I'm way cool FYI

I had a pit bull for 15 years and he lived in the same home my mom ran a daycare in. The kids and their parents loved him and we never had an issue.
But as his owner I knew he had issues with other dogs and I never let him be around other dogs because he would try to fight them.
I mean yeah I guess they can snap in an instant, but if you're a good owner and know your dog well you can kind of tell these situations before they unfold and avoid them.

Pit bulls make up 4.9% of all dog breeds. They're responsible for 66% of all dog bite deaths. Think about those statistics for awhile.
I love dogs. I wouldn't shy away from adopting a pit bull. But I wouldn't leave a child alone with one or put the dog in an environment where it could get loose.

The same department that lumped 4 breeds into one, and when you do the math, the individual breeds come out in 3rd place behind Rotties and GSD's?
Keep throwing insults man, IDC. Ultimately you're a 35yo who's on an internet forum hating on a stranger explaining statistics and defending himself against personal attacks. Nowhere have I said you are a chit person for not liking pitbulls, or not owning one, and nowhere have I encourage anyone to get one. i've even said myself I wouldn't rescue or adopt an older pitbull because of the potential dangers. I've even advocated restrictions for pitbulls, as well as other larger dog breeds as they are all more dangerous animals.
Literally my whole point arguing with you guys is just to stop this retarded witch hunt that makes people go "hurr durr breed of piss, kill them all and their owners, they're all trash". BRB estimated 3-5 million pitbulls in the USA, but the ones who don't kill are the exceptions? But somehow you guys don't get that....

No hate to pits, or dogs in general. But having been recently attacked by a dog, dogs in general can cause very severe injuries to even grown adults let alone a child. Dog bites are crush injuries, underlying damage is almost always more severe than any visible lacerations. Crush injuries also take significantly longer to heal.
Would be awfully irresponsible to leave a child alone with a dog. Any interactions between the two should be supervised. Your child can’t do much damage to your dog, your dog could kill your child.

However, that in no way means you're more likely to be attacked. Just looking at fatalities doesn't tell the whole story. If you got T-boned by a Geo Metro, you're likely to escape with far less damage than if you got T-boned by an F350, but it doesn't mean you're more likely to get hit by one or the other.

I got him because there is a mad overpopulation problem with pits in chihuahuas in SD county right now, so much so that they were offering $90 neuters for them, which I took advantage of and was also a motivator for me to get a pit. And I also got them because they are dogs that can be active, but also lazy. So I can have a lazy, be a piece of chit Sunday with him where we do nothing but sleep and I play videogames, and he's content. Or I can take him out on a 5 mile hike, and he will have the energy to keep up. Also didn't want a small dog, but that's more about the size of the dog I picked, not breed. And idk if it makes a difference, but he ended up being about 20-30lbs heavier than I expected him to be, so it's not like I was going for the biggest dog on the block. Also got him because I didn't want a breeder, designer dog. Yeah you can find those dogs in shelters, but they're few and far in between, and typically older, and I'm wary of adopting any older dog that isn't geriatric and barely mobilePitbull owners.... why did you choose a pit? I adopted my dog and wasn't seeking to even get a pit, but saw my dog on a rescue page, went to meet him and took him home. That good enough for you, sport?

You just going to ignore the fact "pitbull" isn't one breed, but 4?
You just going to ignore the sentence where I said you don't have to own, interact, or even like the breed?

Maybe we should ban large vehicles, because if you get hit by a large vehicle you have a higher chance of injury or death. Everyone who owns a big truck is just trying to look tough...right?
Someone link the dachshund story if they have it, I've gotta see that.
