I don't care if people lane split. I'd only have a problem if they gave me attitude for blocking them, but that's never happened

That's the equivalent of some twat in a car swerving in an out of lanes when traffic is flowing at a normal rate. Just people driving like dicks. Not the same. Lane splitting is for when there's traffic, congestion, etc. No one is being bothered or inconvenienced if a motorcyclist lane splits when traffic is at a crawl or stopped entirely. The argument that it's cutting in line is BS. You're held up because of cars in your lane. If a motorcyclist is between lanes, they aren't contributing to the back up.

sounds more like you have an attitude

brb someone driving a completely different type of vehicle should adhere to the exact same standards

yeah okay, that's why there's signs on freeways saying 3 axle trucks can't go over 55mph right? that's why they have dedicated lanes for them on certain freeways? Maybe you should stick to the same rights and rules granted to commercially licensed vehicles, unless you don't mind them taking chances around you and your sedan

If we're in a line, and you were behind me but you go around me and get in front of me, how is that not cutting in line?

And how about the very last car that was passed by a motorcyclist before the crosswalk? Now they are waiting for the motorcycle to go, instead of going themselves. No matter how you cut it, I will wait longer if there are more vehicles in front of me.
No they aren't waiting for the motorcycle to go, he's still in between waiting for the light to turn green.

And most people in cars in front of you take off slow as hell. Realistically speaking, can you tell me how much time you're losing if a motorcycle filters to the front?

When I do get a motorcycle (hopefully within the next year or two) I do plan to lane split at red lights permitting there is a safe amount of room and I don't need to squeeze by. Still torn on the lane splitting in stop and go traffic. I see some guys do it safely, and some that I have no idea how they're still alive.

Nothing wrong with filtering, but obviously lane splitting when you're going 20mph faster than the traffic around you is incredibly stupid and dangerous. Then these are the same guys that complain how no one looks for motorcycles on the freeway.

never understood the rage cagers have, i really think they need to get on a motorcycle to experience the difference. you will see driving in a new way

brb dont feel the need to speed/gun it every chance you get in your car
brb actually realize road conditions/experience wind, bumps etc
brb wrist is destroyed sitting behind a cager that leaves 40 feet of space between him and the car infront
brb having to hold balance at 1mph bc cager infront can't move at constant speed
brb understand how scary it is to keep checking your mirrors everytime you come at a stop hoping cagers behind you dont sandwich you
brb understand how scary it is when cagers come into your lane because they want to "share"

literally none of those have to do with him driving like an azzhole, and everything to do with people in cars being oblivious to their surroundings, and how someone would have to ride according to the people ITT who would eliminate lane splitting/filtering.

While we're on it can we talk about how wildly impractical a motorcycle is?

Brb no climate control------Don't need air conditioning in the wind. You can buy warming gear to keep warm in cold
Brb no protection from rain or snow------Don't ride in the snow or rain? Though some riders do and still manage
Brb piss poor storage and passenger carrying capacity------Most riders manage on long trips and some bikes are comfortable as hell
Brb radio of pissDon't care about a radio, most riders want to hear their bike------
Brb no protection in the event of accident-----True. There's actually an air bag vest you can wear. It's become more safe
Brb more maintenance--------This is highly false. Motorcycles are much more simple and much easier to fix
Brb lumbar support of piss------Depends. Cruisers are very comfortable
Brb sitting on top of hot ass engine--------True, but you're in the wind or not riding long anyway
Brb who was reverse-------Don't need reverse, most bikes aren't heavy for a rider
Brb bugs in your face--------Where a helmet
Motorcyclists take off pretty quick dude. The objective is to stay away from traffic whenever possible. Once that light turns green and no one is seen running the red light, the rider takes off quick and gets in front. Whereas your minivan mom takes 30 seconds to hit 15mph

And a motorcycle isn't impractical, answers in bold.

tbh your issue with filtering riders slowing down traffic sounds like you wanting to be upset about it. The time a driver would have to wait for a motorcycle to take off is likely no longer than the usual reaction time of your average driver to take off from a stoplight with no motorcycle around.

As for the practicality..some of your arguments are true, but also non-issues for a lot of people who ride. Or they have a car for the practical needs. The one i do take issue with tho is maintenance. I can't speak from experience, but from every rider I've met and talked to, they all say maintenance is p easy to learn and do yourself, and cheaper than it is for cars. And some of the other practicality points, to me, also sound like whining for the sake of whining.

Agreed, no one likes a driver with an attitude problem. But the attitude you gave off in the initial post made it sound like you take issue specifically with riders.
