Do you think it’s an ideal outcome for a 10 year old to serve life life in prison or face the death penalty?

Obviously it’s fukd up, and a horrible situation. But at 10 does a child even understand death, or injury? Did she really know what the outcome of this would be?

I think the daycare workers/foster parents really have a lot to answer for because there is no reason a 10yo foster child should have been left alone inside with a six month old baby.

god damn this is fukt up. Dont even know what would be the right course of action here. Obviously look at the 10 year old girls parents...and why is a 6 month old being babysat with a 10 year old? the fuk?

they are not likely to fully understand the full gravity and life changing effect of their actions, but at that age they understand enough for sever punishment to be acceptable

As horrible as this is, you can't put a 10 year old in jail for the rest of her life. Her parents/caretakers are responsible, a child doesn't just develop a personality like this.

She obviously has mental problems because she had been previously removed from her parents care and placed in foster care, that’s where the incident took place.

Also she admits to dropping him hitting his head on the footstool panicking when he started to cry then not knowing what to do so she resorted to stomping.

hope some psychiatrists and LEO can make sense of this. I don't even know how you'd handle it...that girl is clearly twisted to do that, but locking her up for most your young life would probably make it worse.

10 years olds know that stomping somebody on the head, especially a helpless baby can't be good for them. This child is evil. Needs to be kept away from society and monitored at all times.

its a **** situation with no good solution. in the end she ended another persons life through violence. life in prison is acceptable at that point to pay for the life that she ended/prevented from happening. yeah it sucks for everybody but until we get to the point of being able to permanently fix mental issues there is no way to know if she might do something similar down the road. some form of prison thats focused on community service instead of just confinement and punishment would probably be better while seeking to fix any mental issues she has.

They know better at that age.

I never liked the sub 18 year old get out of jail free card which so many violent criminals ride on for free

..also its a foster home. so im assuming the girl has no parents.

that's not necessarily true. some percentage of the population is psychotic no matter what

you lock up the 10 year old for life to protect the rest of society, which is more important than coddling an individual who already broke the social contract in the most extreme way that you can
