I snagged 2000 rounds 9mm and 500 rounds .380 off Academy's website last night, free shipping. With the rebates and cash back I ended up at just like 11.4 cents a round delivered to my door.

If you are looking to stock up for some sweet range blasting, now's not a bad time.

The black box deals are also available in 40, 45, .223, and .22lr (.22lr is sold out most places I could find).

If you are not an active junkie member and interested in a referral link that gets us both $10 hit me up, I don't wanna spam it in the thread.
Crap, I LITERALLY just signed up and bought some ammo from Academy. Should probably buy more. One 1600rd case of 22lr for $0.0207/round and 300 rounds of 223 for $0.2183/round both after rebate and cash back.

How long does your order take to show up under your Active Junky orders tab?

Academy is showing they have some of the .22 black packs back in stock. Grabbed a few, probably going to pick up 1500 rounds of 9mm to round out the rebate.

Went ahead and grabbed 1500 rounds of 9mm from Academy too. I like S&B a little better than Blazer but for 0.135cpr after rebate I couldn't pass it up.

I know, I ended up doing two packs of .22lr (3200 rds) and three packs of 9mm (1500 rds). Ebates also has 3% back on Academy right now so I grabbed that to help offset the tax.

Hnnnggg. Now I have to weigh the option of having 5 cases of the .22lr shipped to my parent's "household" to use their rebate too..

speaking of driving in the snow. Have any of you had experience driving with MT tires in the snow? How do they do? Better than an all terrain?

Annnnnd they're ordered.. Gonna have plinking ammo for days.

ETA:

What are everyone's thoughts on full size .22lr handguns for practice. IE Drawing from retention, firing, etc. I have been eyeing one of the Smith and Wesson M&P22s for cheap practice.

Thoughts? Other suggestions on firearms suitable for this?

Anyone know chit about GoPro cameras? I am going to Costa Rica in 8 weeks and want to get one. Trying to decide between the Hero 5 Black, or the Hero 7 Silver, but being that I have never owned one, nor am I a camera person in general, I don't know what features to look for/what's a better model.

Most likely going to only be using it for taking photos, snorkeling videos, maybe down the road use it for 4 wheeling, snowboarding...

anyone have any knowledge on them?

Yeah, I bought an X-box for someone and a few days later found a deal for $70 cheaper.

They are also made with a different rubber compound that remains pliable in the cold. Summer/all season tires the rubber hardens when it gets cold so it acts like a hockey puck on ice
Driveway stories: 2018 edition (PART #1). Pics will be posted in sequence of events

If you remember last year the first victim was a Fedex driver in a box truck with summer tires. On the way to an event at daughter's preschool wife said she was expecting a delivery from Fedex.

On the way home I pull into our driveway to see this HD wrecker at the top of our drive starting to chain up.

I look to wife and say “well, it looks like Fedex came”

[img]https://i.imgur.com/YfCdlvN.jpg

Park and walk up to wrecker and see it’s the same operator as last year. Ask him if it’s the fed x guy. He says “yep, goddamn dumbass has summer tires on and is buried. We are going to chain up then turn around and head up”.

While they chained up I walked down to the bridge. Itwas the worst kind of snow, wet and when compressed turns slicker than sheet ice. I almost ate chit a few times walking down. I was getting confused as I didn't see anyone on the driveway or in the ditch. Walked further down and looked to the right to see this.

Was impressed as he is over the ditch and into the woods. Fookin buried bud

He said he made it almost to the curve then couldn’t go any farther and started to slide backwards. Said the ditch looked better than the brook.

Walked back to the Tahoe and pulled out into main road so wrecker could pull out turn around and head in

Went up the hill to the house with no issues because we have ****ing winter tires
Here we go with Part 2:

Get kid unloaded from car and get her settled, put on some boots, grab a beer and head down to watch. As I walk outside I see they have him out of the ditch and are pulling him up the hill. All seems to be going fine...

Right as I get over there i hear the wrecker's tires start to spin and its bouncing up and down with all forward movement ceased. Uh oh...

Get up off to the side and see they are both stuck on the curve...

I notice they only chained the outside tires of the wrecker instead of all 4 drive wheels, and the chains are ladder style with a enough gap so that the tire can site on the ground without any chain in contact with the driveway. He gives it another go but nope, now both WRECKER and the fedex truck start sliding backwards down the hill. Wrecker operator floors it an while he can't go forward he spins the wheels enough to chew through the snow and into the driveway gravel and is able to stop.

WHEEEEEE! What a predicament! Can't go up, and can't back up with a fedex truck on a chain behind you. Wrecker operators run a strap around a tree on the outside corner of the curve and hook a pulley to it so they can winch the fedex truck all the way up.

Part 3

They then used the cable and winch to drag the back end of the fedex truck up the hill so the front end was pointed at the turnout and get him able to drive clear of the curve into the turnout.

Once he was in, they were going to back the wrecker down to the bridge where it was flat so they could add better chains to all 4 rear wheels, then drive back up, hook up to fedex guy and keep him cabled to the wrecker as the fedex truck crept down to the bridge.

Wrecker starts backing up in the curve, letting off brakes for a second then applying them, and repeating. After about 4 feet, as soon as he hit the brakes the wrecker broke loose. It didn't just slowly start sliding, as soon as it lost traction it took off FAST going backwards down the driveway on a perfect course to hit the left bridge railing and go over into the brook.

I was like OH FUKK, this joe rogan head is going in the damn brook HARD!

Luckily he was an experienced operator and he cranked the wheel to the left and then let off the brakes and hit the gas, which sent the front end swinging to the right into the ditch and slamming into a tree. The impact caused the rear end to slide into the ditch as well instead of continuing down the driveway.

He came to rest like this

Shot showing where the slide started and where he ended up

Right when the slide stopped operator yelled "HOLY FUKK!". Operator got out and was cussing up a storm, calling the fedex driver every name in the book for trying to drive up to our place with summer tires, and said "i'm never coming back up this goddamn driveway".

They used their outriggers to lift rear end and chained up all drive wheels.

Came back up, used cable to pull fedex driver all the way back to the start of the curve on the uphill side. Fedex driver swore he could make it down. Wrecker operator was like "its your life not mine bud"

So from here they unhooked the cable and let him go

As soon as he started down he started sliding to the right into the opposite ditch all wheels locked up. I thought for sure he was going to end up in the ditch but he hit the gas, spun all wheels and managed to stay out of the ditch and onto the bridge. He kept his foot to the floor and fishtailed all the way up the hill on the other side and disappeared into the sunset...

This is the spot he was stuck in
