Why don't most 30+ year olds work out/go to the gym?

I always tell people that consistency is the most important but hardest thing. I've done intense workouts 3-4x a week in the past and it was draining to me. I know others can handle it but I honestly couldn't. I would take a week off after several months and then lose routine because it was either intense or nothing. I now aim to work out just about everything day but instead I do much, much lighter workouts. I prefer Grease the Groove working out and it's keeping me in shape still. I never wanted to get bodybuilder big but just big enough that was better than average.
I know I won't ever get in bodybuilder shape (given this forum) rather I am going more towards general fitness. I only work out at home and havent stepped into a gym in a very long time. I do still have good mass from my past but people dont believe me when I tell them I don't go to the gym and just work out at home. Those are the same out of shape people that go hard at the gym 1 or 2 times and give up.

When people approach 30, they progress along the right of passage that was designed by the powers that be:
1. Education - brain washing completed
2. Tertiary Education - brain washing completed
3. College debt - success
4. First Job - keep your head down and know your masters. Will continue for as long as you want the basics in life plus some "dignity"
5. Marriage - obey your master and give them your money
6. Massive debt - keep servicing your right to be a slave
7. Kids - you ready for 30 years more of commitment
8. Job loss
Bonus:
7a. No appreciation - raise them thinking you can control your kids.. only for them to use you until you become useless
8a. Divorce - give all your money when you have little incoming
And people wonder why people look like crap as they get older. To be fit, one needs to sacrifice some steps in the right of passage, or have the correct credentials (family backgrounds) to claw back their fit rights.

Because being consistent so it becomes a normal part of your lifestyle is something a lot of modern humans cannot do. Their discipline and willpower decrease with age but regardless of age most people are too lazy to keep up with a lifestyle pattern. You could tell someone: "Do these stretches 10min a day and your shoulders won't feel as painful" and they may do it for a few days, maybe a few weeks, then all of a sudden they'll just stop doing it. Or you can talk to someone who has a problem, tell them as solution but stress it has to be done every day... they'll nod and do the usual NPC "Yeah you're right" and watch them not even start doing it the next day.
As for the age bracket, well family, kids, the realization of where your life is heading, maybe a bad divorce etc can erode someones natural exuberance. The reality is nearly anyone can fit in a fitness schedule, you don't need to go to the gym 2hrs each time 4-6x a week to be fit/huge.

i will have lost 25 lbs or so in 3 months by the end of it, but i just didn't factor in how much i had to lose. i'm gonna keep cutting until 10-12% no matter what and then never exceed 12. i'm on that dietary stockholm syndrome time where i don't give af about what i'm eating, but i'm looking forward to reaching my goal.
believe it or not, but most people my age look way worse lmao[/QUOTE]
Have you ever done bod pod or anything of the sort? How low are you going to have to go to get to 12%?

because most people dont like doing thing they are not good at. Most people are not naturally athletic so getting in shape is hard. Since it doesnt make them money they rather spend their time doing things that they are good at/make them money

I work out in a health club in a wealthy nation (left UK) and most of the guys here with good physiques are incredibly successful (super-cars, maids, multiple homes successful not just $100k) and they find time for it. Most employees on $100k+ these days just have poor time management. I doubt many clock 60h of solid, consistent, work.

Most people in their thirties now never went to the gym in the first place. It just wasn't such a big thing 15-20 years ago. They never grew up with gym culture. There will be many more 30+ people in the gym in the next decade or so as the current generation gets older.
I'm 35. Back when I was at university around 2000, there was one gym for the whole uni with a few dozen stations in it. And it was mostly empty. The rest of the city had very few other gyms. These days, that same university has a 200 station gym which is constantly busy, and there are dozens of gyms dotted about the rest of the city, with more opening every year. It's a completely different culture.

It is universally known that working out benefits you in almost every aspect of your life and if you can't exercise 3x a week because of some lie people keep telling themselves in fear of facing the truth that they are lazy as fuk, then so be it. Doesn't change our lives who actually enjoy working out. Just stop with the excuses that are blatantly irrelevant.
Most of the wealthier people in my area are out at 4-5am cycling in groups for 1-2 hours every morning. Are they choosing "money over exercise?"
CBF finding studies but I'm pretty sure fit people are overall more successful in life vs their counterparts.

Some people lift and some people don't.
If you think the guys out of shape and not lifting are out there making 150-300K a year by working 80 hour work weeks? Your literally retarded. The national average for income is right around 50K.... some of the crap post here is sad at this point.
Why People Don't Lift:
• Lazy/not disciplined.
• Dont care.
• Have other hobbies.
• Mental illness.
• Never got into the habit of it.
• Maybe they work out a little and it doesn't show
• They aren't apart of the .00000005% sub group of "fitness enthusiasts" across the world.
Thing people aren't doing instead:
• Making 150-300K.... just lol at such a ridiculous and delusional metric for the average income.
• Getting laid all the time so no need to lift (most married guys get nothing... or once on their birthday).
• Are secure in themselves so don't lift... just lol if you believe this.
• Have jobs working 80+ hours a week.
I can't tell if this is a reverse cope or autistic troll thread. But just LOL at some of the outlandish crap being pushed in here.... BRB making 150-300k per year, working 80 hours a week, getting laid all the time, and completely confident in themselves is why the majority of people don't lift in thier 30's... f*cking hilariously cringe

It seems like a lot of people see exercise as a way to look better rather than a way to be healthy, so it comes in phases. So many of the health problems in modern life like obesity, diabetes and stress-related chit can be avoided with exercise. Eating clean, a 20 or 30 minute jog and maybe some push ups a couple times a week is all it takes to see huge improvement in quality of life, so the "i don't have time" excuse is usually not a legit one. Too many people think exercising means becoming a gym addict and i think that puts them off before they even start. IMO it's really important to liive a healthy lifestyle from young so it becomes routine.

Because they are lazy srs
But then again 30 is really when you are probably the busiest in your life.
Probably a good thing because if you are in good shape in your 30's you really stand out from the crowd.

There is absolutely no reason to be fat/out of shape.
No time? Do a few sets of pushups/situps/squats before bed. Doing that consistently will put you in better shape than 90% of the population. It takes no time at all.
No money? Workout at home like in the above example. You don't need to choose between hardcore athlete and overweight. There's a spectrum, and it's easier to move up it than most people think. Also, don't say you can't afford to eat healthy when you can afford enough food to get fat.
No drive? Well that's too bad. No one can help you but yourself. If you're okay with being fat, then continue being fat. Just don't complain when you get winded walking up a flight of stairs, or have to ask someone to help you up because you fell over and you're too fat to get yourself back up without assistance, or die of a heart attack. Don't complain, because noone forced those twinkies and mountain dew cans down your blubberous throat.
