I have an instagram account, but 99% of my photos are of landscapes etc as I like to take photos as a hobby and share the ones I'm happy with.

I have never (and will never) post a pic of myself flexing or anything fitness related.

Maybe 35+ guys 25-30 grew up chatting up sloots on aol messanger and MySpace. Why should they suddenly revert to using technology. You except them to grab the morning newspaper to stay updated, when they could gotten that news 20 hrs ago on their phone.

Same. I basically post on mine so I can remember what I did when and so others can search a location to see how it is. I also use IG to search locations to get a better mental picture of how the location actually is.

Mine is pretty much 90% sporting events without me even in the pics.

Sounds to me like you have an axe to grind with a VERY specific type of IG user. You realize that is only a small segment of social media users and while people like that are annoying, you don't have to follow them - right? You can search for things that are relevant to your interest. Like Ford Mustangs? Thousands of content specific pages to follow so you see the things you like.
