Inb4 dear diary, tldr at the bottom

If you've always been above average in terms of looks, this isn't something you're likely to notice. But for the first 18-20 years of my life, I was practically invisible to women, with 1 or 2 obvious exceptions. I was 6' 160 pounds, but hadn't voluntarily worked out a day in my life and couldn't bench 60 pounds. Couldn't do 1 single chin up. Had a sizable patch of fat on my belly, a hideous pudding bowl haircut, and exclusively wore oversized graphic tees and gym shorts. Only shoes I wore were white Nike dad shoes when I started university.

I dramatically changed from 20-22, and in the process got into my first ltr, fell in love, and lost my virginity. I learned how to dress well, started working out and packed on some muscle, got a good haircut and learned to gel my hair properly, learned how to properly groom myself, etc. etc. etc. My friends and former roommate all say they've never seen anyone change more during university than me. 6' 180 pounds now, but less body fat and more muscle than ever before by a lot.

Holy sh* t brahs hooooly sh*t. Difference in how women treat you is night and day. I've gotten more compliments from women over my appearance in the last 2 months than in the first 18 years of my life. But that's not what this is about, it's about just the general way women treat you

I remember when I started university, and all through high school, women rarely would make eye contact when I'd talk to them, they'd almost never laugh at my jokes, and just in general would seem very disinterested when I'd talk to them. I always coped by thinking "hey she just doesn't want to lead me on, she isn't being a b*tch on purpose"

Now they're constantly making eye contact and smiling when I talk to them, I catch them staring at me when I'm in the library, they actually laugh at my jokes, they feel comfortable hugging me and touching my arm and sh*t. You'd think this would make me happier, and it does in a lot of ways obviously, but it's also made me more cynical. I'm exactly the same person inside I was before, just better looking.

In other words, to people who say women don't value physical appearance (women say this too), that is PURE COPE.

Now obviously if they take care of their appearance they want a dude who does too. And they're more likely to appreciate attention from a good looking dude.

But we're taught from a young age this idea that women are somehow less superficial than men, that they care more about personality. My very drastic transformation in appearance has taught me that this is a lie. I lived the life of a video game playing FA nerd for 18 years, so I know just how untrue that can be.

Thoughts?

-Got into first LTR, women started actually acknowledging I exist
-Women no longer seem grumpy and perpetually pissed off and annoyed when I talk to them, they actually laugh at my jokes, make eye contact, smile, etc. etc. etc.

Honestly I think women like to perpetuate this idea that they care less about looks cause it makes THEM feel good and less superficial and above men in that way.

Of course it's a lie that women don't care about looks. However, you also stepped away from your console and got out into the world and started talking to people. You took steps to improve your appearance and your life. Both your looks and your attitude improved. Man or woman, most of us like people who are taking steps to improve their lives.

So that would be a part of it, too. That's why the more positive helpful guys in the Misc talk about having a positive attitude and improving yourself. Yes, looks matter. But other stuff matters too. And most of us when we change one will change the other.

Go back to being a skinnyfat loser, watch as they lose interest in you, then maybe you'll be motivated to get the mojo back and appreciate it properly instead of being pissed because you just finally realized how shallow people typically are.

attractive people are treated nicer regardless of gender, it's been proven time and time again.

I look at attractive guys more than I look at unattractive guys, but I wouldn't date the Chadliest Chad if I didn't feel a mental connection and they had a chit personality. So yes, being good looking will get you hawked and flirted with, but looks alone won't always get you the girl.This too.

Yes, some girls only care about looks. But my point is that not all girls only care about looks. Some of us want substance. Looks also don't have much to do with chemistry. You can take 2 very attractive people and they may feel no chemistry with each other.Exactly.

I treat all guys the same regardless of looks, however most women do treat guys vastly different based on looks as they get older they do that less.
