Girlfriend and I are adopting a child, advice needed. Please be respectful SRS
So as some of you are aware, my girlfriend and I are currently trying for a child and due to complications we will be adopting, a problem with the eggs apparently.
Anyway we are over the moon about this, but here’s the thing, now it doesn’t bother me one bit, I’m just happy to be a father and do my best but my girlfriend wants an African child. The place we looked at does some good deals although it is very expensive, roughly 20k. My girlfriend says she wants to save a life as well as give life so I see where she is coming from and fully support her in our family.
Now here’s why I’m making this thread, my whole life I’ve always connected with black culture (blues music, some rap music, used to play basketball etc) and spiritually I do feel quite Black in some ways (I know that sounds retarded but I’m sure some brothers will feel me on this), it’s about culture and spiritual identity more than colour. Point is I’m gonna help this kid celebrate his culture, we’ll have rap days, teach him basketball etc so he can connect with his homeland whilst having a new identity with us. Any brahs out there able to recommend some good cultural/historical activities to share with your child???
We’ve got some names as ideas for the child:
Adebowale
- meaning:
Return of the crown; refers to a child born after many years of waiting
Adebiyi
-meaning: The royal one.
T’challa (not sure if this is too on the nose or culturally insensitive)
Any name ideas? He is West African
Hope some of you guys/gals can help me with some ideas
Please keep it helpful and respectful, it's a big commitment and I'd prefer not to have to wade through insensitive or bigot comments

I'll need to check that show out, there is going to be a couple of adoption interviews with the agency and doing my research with shows like this will help me if they ask any questions about culture etc.
Will need to get some African-American cookery books etc but I presume it's gonna be like soul food n bbq stuff which I LOVE and I'm sure the kid will too.
