The crust is crispy. You can pick a slice of that bish up and it’ll lay flat.

NY style is floppy.

Jayms Jaygar says its easier to dot the eyes on a big dot than it is to line up 4 90 degree angles with each other on a standard sight picture. Kind of agree with him. The one guy that's taken a tactical respanse course ITT says he loves them.

Yeahhhhh but he's talking about positively identifying a target and making a kill zone shot at 200 yards, with an LPV that costs 2x+ what the RDS costs and is heavier and necessarily more complex and less durable.

For a "general purpose", or one and only, or competition or target shooting, or actual professional use say a patrol rifle in LE or whatever else...why would younotwant to be able to dial in some magnification?

But if it's a regular joe schlub's home defense rifle, and Mr Schlub owns three other rifles as well? I'm still seeing a red dot on that HD rifle.

Fukking shrimp were frozen.

I am not a fan of magnification for a carbine. Yes it magnifies you target but it also magnifies every little bit of movement when trying to get a sight picture. Torso sized targets at 0-300 meters there is no need for magnification in most applications. My unit all has ACOGs, I refused and stayed with the CCO.

Night sights are a myth. If the light is so low you can’t see the outline of black sights then you shouldn’t be shooting and you need light. Once you have light you can see the sights. It’s marketing. Fiber optic fronts are nice though. Helps focus on the front sight.

Legit not trying to Fargue, but what would you say to many of the top instructors who use black rear/fiber optic front sights on all defense pistols and are advocates of it?

What does Kyle say?

Is he why you don't have any red dot sights?

Links?

The instructors I have interacted with in person, numerous LE instructors, civilian (private citizen) defensive pistol instructors, and Vickers, have been unanimous advocates of an illuminated front sight at least for a defensive pistol. Same with Kyle Lamb in his book that I own. Ever check out a selection of law enforcement agencies? They are all about saving money...we hear they choose Glock "because co$t" so why do they almost all pony up for tritium night sights?

I think you've linked Frank Proctor before...and of course, his fiber optic front (no tritium) is * by the fact that you must always have and use a light for low light shooting...flashlight or WML. From other conversations with MFC and watching a whole lot of actual self defense pistol uses on ASP...few carry with a WML daily and even fewer have the time to take out a hand held light with one hand while drawing with the other hand so that they can operate both a light and a pistol cohesively in self defense. Me? I don't want to count on having a functional WML mounted on my carry gun at all times, or having a "tactical" hand held light that I can retrieve as quickly as I can draw my gun (or that I can have both hands free to draw the light with one and gun with the other)

And of course, the asinine notion that if you can't see your front sight in an instant, you can't ID your target, is the highest level of ignorance and demonstrates conclusively that a person has not done any legitimate night shooting or training.

BTW, I always wondered...how is it that a person can say pistols never need night sights, but, carbines all have to have an illuminated optic? We just did the link about red dot sights or illuminated reticle LPV scopes. Why does one need illumination for shooting at night but not the other? Can't you see your rifle sights if you can identify the threat/target?
