Ortega came into this fight with the wrong game plan, he should if stritcly gone for takedowns and try to submit him.

who impresses you then?
Max and Covington are freaks. Only guys with that tier of cardio to also be fast. That was the difference tonight. Usually insane cardio is a synonym for slow twitch.

Adds a shine to McGregors' win over him.

That fight reminded me a little bit of Nick Diaz vs BJ Penn

Holloway couldn't miss, crazy amount of strikes landed. Ortega can take one hell of a beating.

Feel so bad for Ortega. He took a lot of damage. I'm a hardcore fan of mma and boxing but it's getting hard for me to watch guys you humanise get pasted.

If people knew how much they sacrificed they'd hate less.
kinda like Adonis Stevenson who suffered a brain injury last weekend.

Not taking anything away from what Conor’s accomplished but the Max he fought was much different than the max you saw tonight. Not saying Conor couldn’t beat Max now but I think he would have a lot of cardio issues in five rounds against a max throwing that much volume with that much accuracy. Could be a very different fight

What an idiotic post. Max faded? Did you skip the 4th round? Guy must have landed 300 punches in that round.

And Conor is 5’9.

Ortega's corner should of thrown the towel, he may never be the same after that beating.

ya he faded hard. Multiple times he had Ortega dropped/down and he could have gone for a vicious ground and pound to end it like 95% of fighters would but instead he took the opportunity to just take a breather and let Ortega stand back up. He landed all those punches because Ortega couldn't evade or block for chit. The fact that he landed so many punches but couldn't put Ortega away just shows his lack of power.

I'm not saying it wasn't a good win. I just wouldn't call it a masterful performance by any means. He had a ton of opportunities for things besides just standing and banging that he didn't capitalize on (had multiple opportunities to take Ortega's back). Ortega is a Gracie BJJ dude so obviously everyone's gonna say no chit he didn't wanna go to the ground with him, but in those specific situations it just shows to me Max's fight game isn't 3D if that makes sense.

Also Connor has a 74" reach (Halloway is 69), hence where the lanky part comes into play.

I'm sure this post is gonna get a ton of hate, but that's just what I observed from the fight.
Awesome pics. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.

The chances are much greater than not, that's for sure

Current max just overwhelms, current conor wouldn't be able to match the output and eventually fade. He'd have to KO max

If you are winning the fight on the feet, why would you then willingly play into Ortega's sole chance of winning? It's also not the smartest to go the ground because if Ortega can tie him up then he can recover vs forcibly standing up where Ortega was apparently gassed and wobbly.

Ortega is the comeback kid and has pulled off subs out of nowhere -- giving him the opportunity to pull out another miracle sub would be so idiotic.

What you're telling me is that you would've been impressed had Holloway submitted Ortega or something..

During the 4th when his head was getting treated like a pinata, and then after the 4th Rener was pleading with the dr to let it continue, very negligent cornering imo.

Rener asked for the doctor to look at him so it could be stopped. There was no pleading at all. He knew he was done.

It’s called fight IQ. Maybe didn’t want to tuna risk of getting subbed when he’s raping Ortega standing? Maybe he didn’t want to risk just getting tied up and letting Ortega clear the cob webs?

I think max is one heavy blow away from immediate onset CTE. Conor would definitely be able to be that catalyst...

Rogan did say that, but he was on the opposite side of the cage. It’s just one of those things you say to make a fighter sound good. “He didn’t want to give up. He’s a warrior.” Truth is he wanted out and no corner that cares about their fighter would let them go out after that 4th round with his eye the way it was.

They must have figured that if boxing worked on Frankie, it surely has to work on max. Ortega has a great ground game but he doesn’t have the take down skills needed to take down max.

Max is glowing right now. Dudes an absolute savage.

With that said, whenever I see Max fight, I can't help but want him to fight Tony Ferguson.

I can't think of any match up in the history of MMA that would have more output than that fight. It would be complete and utter insanity, probably 1000 strikes landed between the two of them over 5 rounds lol.

Happy as fuk I was wrong about Max. I really thought that unknown health problem + the weight cut would phuck him up. He can make 145 but he's entering Conor territory. Just move up. It would be way better for his health and imagine some of the fights waiting for him, HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG.

This is actually crazy how good conor is. He beat max on one leg. One. B-b-b-but maX was young!!! I'm pretty positive Conor was young too. I'm so happy he is healthy, one of my favorite fighters. I thought he'd never be the same again.

Well Gomi looks like you were right

Max is not an easy fight for Ortega

I was happy but wished neither any devastating loss so wasn’t rooting against someone too hard
