Nothing is going to stop you from feeling upset about this other than time. You will remember stuff and be all nostalgic and cry but no one in the world marries their first GF and stays with them forever. Its super crazy rare. Dont think that way. You left her because you wanted to see what else is out there. So see what else is out there. From your avi it looks like you will have no trouble, and you will develop feelings for another girl after smashing a few sloots. Everything is going to be ok. Its very possible you will find a girl way way better than her in every way.
You need to NOT think about her. You need to fill your days and nights with stuff. As time passes everything will be alright.
You need to replace the old routine that reminds you of her to a new routine, do stuff.

This is going to haunt you down the road, when you're bored of the countless crazy women you're going to encounter. Once you become bored of new p**sy (and you will), you're going to have an existential moment of terror realize what exactly you threw away all those years ago.

If you spend your whole life looking for the next best thing, you're going to miss out on the moment entirely.

You may find someone (and I really hope you do), but the reality is, a deep, meaningful connection is a rare thing.

I don't understand what it is with people who can't be satisfied. There's risks worth taking, and then there's your out of control ego.
I don't understand why the misc pointing out their ages. Yes they are young, but honestly if you find someone that meshes well and they treat you like gold continue on with the relationship. The whole "you will find someone better when you're older" narrative is not always true.
OP you fuked up.

Crazy to think this girl was 150% devoted to me, called me her life partner, and I've pushed her away. Feels.

I take it from your post you're both young. She might have been 150% devoted to you now and your life partner but later on she'd dump you and be on some other guys dink.

We've all been there, the first one is the one, they truly love you, understand you...etc..... In the end someone dumps the other to get some fresh dink/vagene, so just be glad you did the dumping.

Please bump this thread in 20 years that you update from your phone while hiding in your minivan trying to get away from your horribly behaved kids and that whale you married that gives it up every 6 months who thinks you are running to the KFC for a snack for her. Be specific on how you can't tell the difference in smell between the baby vomit, her stench, or your tears.

How old are you/her? Your reasoning and logic is sound. Chances are you would have broken up anyways, and its true there is a lot of life to experience.

That being said once you find a person you are ready to commit 100% too, I think its dumb to not ride it out till its blows up unless there is a clear rift. Why are you selling yourself short on your dream of a life long partner in crime, etc, etc? Because most people fail? Well most people fail at all great things in life. Those who work hard at it succeed.

That being said, all your feelings are normal and trust us, EVEN IF she was the one who got away. You'll be just fine, life will go on.
Are you not entertained?

Are there underlying reasons or is it just because you want to try new girls?

I was in an almost 5 year relationship with my first.

While I wanted the validation from other girls to fuel my ego, there was definitely some other things I was able to pin it down on. Horrible with money, messy, hormone issues, hot and cold in the bedroom.

I’ve gone through stretches when I miss her loyalty and always being there. Some really bad stretches. But it fades man.

Now I will admit, it is definitely not as easy to find a girl of that quality my age that I can hold down. I think most like her will date guys older and further along in their career.

Whatever though. I love the chase, I love girls coming at me and me being able to actually act on it. Makes me feel alive.
I think maybe when I get burned a few more times I will want to settle, and tbh I’m open minded to it now. It’s just so hard for me to keep interest once a new one pops up that I want more.

OP, quite simply, you just made the biggest FUK UP of your life. There's no reason to sugarcoat it. Even if you were gonna break up, you could've done it amicably, salvaged some sort of friendship, left the door open for the future, and that's exactly what she was trying to do. But you killed it, you threw her in the trash, and you took a giant piss on the grave of your relationship on the way out. OP, YOU FUKKED UP ROYALLY.

Trust me brah, I did a very similar thing as you, so I know exactly what you're going through. I pushed my gf of 4 years away, and although I never broke up with her, she eventually (over a long period of time) emotionally detached herself, went overseas to study abroad, and ended the relationship. She was pretty similar to your girl, OP. The perfect gf. We clicked completely, great personality, intelligent, completely loyal, cooked, cleaned, took care of me, etc. And still, I found myself wandering after a few years. And then I let it slip away. Trust me when I say it's been a real rough going ever since.

Now in my situation, I was averse to settling down and having kids, I was and still am in a wild, backpack the world type of mode. But it sounds like you don't have that problem, OP. You just want to slay a bunch of STD-infested sloot puss. Probably the worst decision in the world, and you'll feel completely empty and worthless after a while. Sooner rather than later.

Haven't seen my ex in 2 1/2 years, she officially went NC a year ago, and I'm still suffering the consequences OP. Trust all the people in here that say finding a life partner is the hardest thing in the world. They are rare as it comes. Plenty of sloots out there, you will have no trouble finding short term pleasure, but it will likely be really tough in the long run. You might eventually find somebody that measures up, your true match, and I hope you do, but let us warn you OP, you can't ASSUME that will be the case. You might never somebody like her again. And until you do, you will always be comparing other girls to her, and probably missing her. Trust me when I say that you might regret this for the rest of your life. I have a co-worker that I've been chatting with, great guy, had everything in the world going for him, who regretted losing the love of his life for 43 years. That might be you, OP.

The grass isn't always greener, brah. You're about to find this out the hard way. Just as I have. Hope it ends up well for you, but you've set yourself up for failure, rather than success. Learn from it and become a better man, to quote what another user told me, don't fck up the next one

Literally laughing at some of the responses ITT. Some of you must be lonely.

If OP already had second thoughts now, it's not going to get any better when he's planning his wedding with the girl. He only regrets it right now because she's the only one he knows. He will meet many more that are better and worse than her - that's life. At least he won't regret the decision in the future.

ex-GF is like 20, and OP is like 24. They are both so young they still have things to figure out. If he knew she was the one, this wouldn't be an issue. But he's already having second thoughts because he knew deep down that there is something else missing.

OP don't listen to this ******* or anyone else trying to put you down for dumping your ex. the facts are you were not happy and you made a decision that probably is not reversible. there is a reason you made that decision but you can't see it right now because your thoughts are clouded by doubt. this is just a phase of breaking up. it will pass as long as you follow the advices of NC and improving every area of your own life.

No one at age 18-25 and breaking up with someone has made the biggest FU of their life.

Getting married before the age of 35 is very very stupid.

I've pushed away a couple of girls like that for similar reason. It's not bad if you have other options but if the pussy well dries up and you start craving the contact you had with her while you focus on yourself you're going to regret it

I'm going to disagree with almost everyone here. You're only 24. Chances are that you'll have a few years of regret, but once you meet enough women you'll realize that your first was nothing special. That is, if you don't look back on her with rose-tinted glasses, but most men do so because they're a sucker for nostalgia. Settling down is a combination of timing and having the right person. If you don't have one, which was timing in your case, then it's foolish to go on ahead. Besides, you've already been with her for 3 years. If you're already wondering what's out there, that feeling is only going to get stronger later on. Much fairer to her to let her go now instead of wasting her time.

Most people date a "type." If you're observant at all, you'll notice that there'll be a pattern with all the women you date (which is also how dumbfuk miscers start making generalization about ALL women when they're only speaking of their limited experiences that are a reflection of themselves). Chances are that you'll meet someone fairly similar to your ex 5-10 years from now when you're actually ready to settle down. Or maybe not, and you'll just end up old and alone and reminiscing about your past. It's hard to say with life.

Stop overthinking

Focus on something else or get on top of another -> you'll forget about her in a month tops.

As I said in my post, it's the biggest mistake of his life not just because he broke up with her, but the way he broke up with her. He didn't need to burn those bridges, he didn't need to insult her and tell her she's not worth fighting for (after everything she's done for him). It's a brutal and probably permanent decision, and one that will likely haunt him for a long time to come. He basically traded one "what if" for another. Maybe he'll find somebody better in the long run. But that still doesn't mean that he didn't fuk it up with this chick.

A lot of us have been there OP. Hard to fill a void immediately after a breakup. Rest assured that with time and other women these feelings of loss will pass. It will take months though and you will continue to have low moments.

You broke up for a reason, stick with that conviction. She was your first girlfriend, and there are so many other wonderful women out there who wants to be part of your life. Why marry the only girlfriend you've dated? Why limit yourself to that? Yes she was docile and loyal but that's boring af, you need girls that will intrigue you and challenge you and grow together, past the honeymoon period. They are out there, albeit rare. You're a hunter, you need to hunt. That's a lot of fun and she made it too easy.

Don't listen to the ugly nasty people like Maylie who have to settle and play it safe and appease to keep a relationship, you've made the right decision to end it now as opposed to be forced into a marriage with the constant reminder of what if, what about other girls. Get your satisfaction now. Plus with her still being nice and civil(that last outburst won't end it, trust me she's as emotionally invested as you are) you can eat your cake and have it too. I bet after a few years if she's single she would still want to get back together because you've helped her at a critical time in her life/development and for that she'll always have that perception of you.

Don't waste the prime of your life. Go explore, keep it light-hearted and fun.
