SOTD: Black Vines, by Kerosene.


Opens with black licorice, ivy leaves, and some sort of mint/menthol note. Very startling combination! After a couple hours, it's a softer licorice with green notes, and a nice nutmeg vibe enters. After six or so hours, you can smell the sweet amber base, which lasts for a few hours more.

I don't think most folks would like it. I can't imagine people saying, "Oh, what's that fragrance you have on," it would probably be "Woah, what's that smell?" Doesn't smell bad, just different. If you like the smell of bitter licorice and ivy, you'll love it, lol. Actually reminded me of those vintage black Smith Brothers cough drops at one point.

Probably another one of those references on Garfield and Friends (the Animated Series), where the Fern comes to life and Garfield has to wrestle it for his life. Then cascading into some jungle reference upon this plot. I had likened this reference to one of Tom Ford's Vert series, Vert des Bois, which smells like the impression of a porn set (with the overly realistic plants and folliage) it's just missing a good leather note for the casting couch.

This is definitely something for a mature man but damn does it have alot of things going on in here. Immediate thoughts: soapy, dark, barbershop, resinous, amber, gasoline?, patchouli, vanilla. I think it's too mature for me to rock yet somehow it has this addicting aspect as it's drying down.
