Rip to both, horrific.

Hopefully a wake up call to young, naive women from developed countries chasing wanderlust. IIRC there were a series of murders throughout Langtang National Park, Nepal (inc a beheading) a few years ago involving young women trekking alone. For background, there's essentially a one way trail that travels through half a dozen isolated villages over the week long walk. Every half hour there would be a missing persons flyer and an obvious warning that the culprit was still at large. This was obviously very disturbing as the news reported that locals were not cooperating with the investigation and the vibe was that of a cover up. I still ran into multiple young girls throwing caution to the wind and trekking by themselves, claiming it was sensationalist.

They were braver than I. Trekked with four other people and still spent more time watching my back than enjoying the views, whole valley was creepy as ****.

anyone know how this all happened? did they get kidnapped or what? i would have had a knife or something to right back with and never go out alone in a country like that, i would always be with a big group

No idea why theres a debate on religion ITT. It's a socioeconomic issue. Poverty and lack of higher learning produce a lot of degenerates. A group of people with no opportunity and no education that places emphasis on humanity will churn out a handful of criminals, every time. I grew up in a poor province in Vietnam and I see people like this all the time, some of the kids i went to school with were now in gangs or in prison for murder. You see a lot of similar cases in urban gangs, too, even in first world countries.

I pointed out that the US has higher rape and murder rape stats per capita than Morocco. Nobody seemed to care. It's a third world chithole, you see. They are all animals, you see.

apparently it was a group of 5 girls with them. 3 of the girls left to go surfing leaving the 2 that got killed to go hiking.

they went into the city for hiking gear, where i saw one story said they met homeless looking dudes that spoke english and thats how they were able to get along. the men then followed them to their hotel and waited outside the hotel never going in

the story then mentions that there's cctv footage of the girls setting up their tents and then there are guys that follow them and set up tents next to them. i am uncertain whether or not those are supposed to be the same guys they met in the city before

but regardless it seems the guys that killed them at the very least followed them and set up their tent not too far away from the girl's tent. whether they knew it or not

Maybe because some religions promote the killing of nonbelievers and anyone who does something that goes against their beliefs ? But hey you saw some mean people in Asia too so the teachings of Islam have nothing to do with violence in other parts of the world

to those of you guys talking about rape and homicide rates....i would think if u were a white european girl traveling it would kind of put a target on your back and make the odds greater of something happening. just my opinion though
