you're getting up there in age brah, cutting weight for you is damn near 1000x harder for you than it is the majority of us here. Need black yoda in here to give you the best advice but don't stress yet. If your weight is still stagnating in a week or 2 then it's time to come up with a new plan

and 100% srs question, have you ever gotten your test checked by a doctor?

IF doesn't do d!ck by itself; it's all cals in vs cals out. And the reason you feel hungry all the time is because of this stupid fukkin IF program.
Stop starving yourself for 20 hrs/day

Figure your TDEE, aim for 500 below that every day, spread out your meals during all waking hours so you don't feel hungry and just be consistent.
It's definitely a long-term thing here.

Watch the scale for 2 weeks and if you haven't lost weight, you're eating too much

I agree with this. Eat at a deficit and work out. If you don't lose anything in a week or two then drop cals some more. Sometimes the scale doesn't move and then you have a bigger loss the next week. Most people don't lose consistently the same amount every week.

I understand that but my tdee is almost impossible to gauge.

When I used to successfully cut when younger I just did kilograms bw times 24 hrs and that's what I ate.

I'm at 2000 calories or less for this past 7 day period.

I did a huge cardio trash haul day for 2 hrs Sunday. I lifted sat, sun, mon, wed, thur ,fri

I raked and hauled leaves on a tarp for 4 houses Thursday.

I pruned and hauled off pampas grass friday.

I've spread 30 bales of pinestraw.

And had sex twice in that 7 day period.

That's a lot of activity.

Good point
This is why its good to weigh yourself 3-4 times per week and take a good, long average. I usually won't make any drastic changes until I have a 2 week average.

I try to only weigh once a week since I can get obsessed by the numbers on the scale, but agree that making drastic changes because of one week probably isn't a great idea. I like the thought of a 2 week average, it def makes sense.

At least my son is helping me today.

I've only had 600 calories and I started to get the shakes and had to sit down a bit.

There are days I walk 16 to 30 miles for work.

Today I put out 50 bales of pinestraw. I have zero idea how many calories that burns. I'm eating 1930 calories today.

Get a Fitbit or something to get some kind of tracking to gauge cals in/out.

What I do, is calculate my TDEE using a โ€œsedentaryโ€ lifestyle(even though mine is far from that) and I eat those cals regardless of my activity. That way, Iโ€™m losing weight regardless and it takes the guesswork out. Some days Iโ€™ll burn more or less, but Iโ€™m in atleast a 500 deficit regardless

Is that a total of 1930...period?
Like, you're not adding in the cals that you think you burn, right?

I have a buddy who used to say he was eating 1900 cals a day, but was not losing weight. I started getting technical with him, asking him what his diet was, his exercise etc... It came out that he would estimate the cals burned in his daily activities and add them to the 1900...so he was really eating something like 3200 cals a day and wondering why he wasn't losing an ounce.

Just eat 1800 cals per day, period; and still do all the normal activities you would do anyway. And don't change day to day; just stick to 1800 per dar, erryday

Yes that's what went in my mouth today. 1930

According to My Fitness Pal their calculator has my BMR at 1828 so I'm going to eat that for a week and see what happens.

You really think he needs to cut down to 1800 to lose weight? I lose on 1500 and I'm a small female.

If this is true weight should be falling off.

I'm not saying your lying but something is wrong. Whether its the amount of physical activity you think you're doing or the amount of calories you're taking in. Something is off because you should be losing weight.

Weight loss isn't linear, your body could be adjusting to the lower intake and adapting. Small chits etc things like that. Don't stress over the day by day but give it another week or so and if you still haven't made any improvements then re-evaluate your circumstances again (calories/macros/exercise levels etc).

A routine day in the summer is 23000 steps pushing and carrying furniture.

In buildings with no elevator you can do 140 to 280 floors in 4 hrs carrying desks, dressers and armoires up.

My highest step total for the day this summer was 47k in one day.

But I have no idea how many I burn a day and every day is different. Since I'm going into the slow season I'll try 1828 starting tomorrow. For one week.

If you're not lying to yourself and you're eating 1900 cals that's gotta be a deficit. I think you need to be patient and measure your calorie intake as best you can.

Most underestimate the calories they take in. I know I used to use 1800 as a target but I was likely closer to 2200. Good rule of thumb for cutting weight is if you're not uncomfortably hungry for most of the day you're just eating too much.

The only other explanation I have is I had a cut when I was 40 where I would lose 2lbs of fat a week and gain .25 to .5 lbs of muscle.

I was being monitored by the human performance lab at Meredith University.

It was blowing their mind what my numbers were on a weekly basis. So the scale was barely moving but I was making a several pound recomp weekly

I might need to go over there and get monitored again.

Well I read the label or when there's not a label I figure total calories for item and divide it over time.

For example I got a pint of blueberries last Sunday. It's not empty yet. The entire pint is 150 calories. So I divide that by 7.

Or this week I ate 4.5 lbs of chicken breast over 4 days that's 750 ish a day.

Tomorrow I will have 1 lb of beef. The 93/7 says 170 per serving or 680 a pound.

If no label then I look up 4oz of whatever and if it has a discrepancy I average it over three sites.

My scale is missing and I don't want to buy a new one yet.

I even buy cheese slices so there is no guesswork 3 slices 110 calories.

1 whole bag spinach 30 cal etc.

I'm really afraid I will be down to 1400 before this cut is over.

Yeah I'll be hungry by the time my 11am window opens. I'm hungry not long after that first meal and I'll have 110 to 220 cal of cheese until dinner to get me thru.

Then I'll eat the rest then around 6 or 7 usually then hang on till the next day.

I just ate. I'm not hungry but I'm definitely not full. I feel empty but no hunger pangs.
