Have you guys ever had a scent that you liked so much but ended up selling it cause it doesn’t suit your style? For me, it’s baccarat Rouge 540 extrait. I love smelling it so much but when I wear it in public, I feel like I’m wearing a woman’s perfume. Myself as a bald bearded masculine guy with a big build, I can’t pull this one off even though I get a lot of compliments from it lol. I picture a celebrity woman wearing this perfume.

I guess I’ll stick with Aventus, Elysium, and Saudi

Scent of the Afternoon: Areej Malik Al Taif with Roja Kuwait sprayed on top. Heaven.

If I had to keep one it would be BR540
Have you tried the regular oud? I got samples ouf MFK Oud, Satin Mood, and Cashmere Mood. Cashmere Mood was gross and smelled like a wet cardboard box, Satin Mood was just over the top candysweet for me even more so than 540. The regular MFK Oud was nearly flawless. I found that ironic, all them damn flankers and the MFK Oud was the most wearable and enjoyable for me.

That's me all day with 540 extrait. I loved its sensuality and uniqueness but only ever could wear it if I was on a dinner date or at a salsa club. I've had numerous people trying to sell me or trade me full bottles of it for Creation-E but the use case for 540 extrait is extremely tiny. It's a 5ml/10ml situational fragragrance for me. Not a 70ml purchase.

Roja Aoud, Roja Amber Aoud, MFK Oud, and Roja Kuwait are significantly better balances of sensuality and masculinity in my opinion.

Just realized tomorrow night is NYE. Gonna make some Sex Panther and let it sit overnight and all day tomorrow. Will test on wrist before I shower and decide if it's wearable.

Kuwait sprayed on Malik Al Taif is just godly, so gonna mix them with the thicker Musk Rose attar and see what comes of it.

I have and I actually think it’s a brilliant “Oud” fragrance. But it just doesn’t wow me enough to drop the coin on it just yet. If a partial came up for a decent price I’d probably grab it. Like you said it’s a very wearable well done Oud. I agree on OSM being overly candy sweet but that does die down significantly as it settles into that powdery base. I find BR540 edt holds that sweetness for the duration. Also I find br540 very wearable. Funny how differently we perceive scents.

On Oud...I spent my flight today reading the Areej-Le-Dor thread over on base notes. My interest is peaked, and I’m thinking of picking up Oud Luwak. The rose sounds great but I don’t need anymore rose in my life atm, the forest one sounds great but I want some real deal nose stimulating Oud. Russian Oud sounds right up alley but of course it’s not available.

I was out shopping for some new hockey equipment as well as a few new colognes and I came up short. I was interested in checking out the Eros Flame, but I couldnt find it in any store(nor online) for purchase, still interested in this one based on the posts a few pages before. I ended up getting the BdC Parfum, but couldnt find Valentino Uomo Intense Absolut in store, id like to give it a spray before I decide, but everything I have read/heard seems promising.

I am going to be up in the Detroit area next week, hoping to stop by some stores up there, see if they have either the Flame or VUIA to compare.

Ended my day at Target and stumbled across Shawn Mendes' Signature Cologne. I am a big fan of his so I went ahead and bought it. 10$ for a nice size bottle. Its marketed as unisex, but definitely more on the feminine side. Basically what you would expect out of a celebrities mass produced cologne. For a blind buy at the price, no regrets, but definitely not an every day/occasion scent

Ive layered 2 sprays of BdC EDT and 2 of Gu cci Guilty Black a few times. Got a couple compliments, but to be honest, I think the BdC was overpowering so that is probably what they were complimenting.

12 hours later and I'm still smelling raspberry/cedar every time I move my arm. And it wasn't even one full spray. Just a few dabs from the sampler.

I've explored ouds extensively this year. Russian Oud is still my crown and glory but there are some other nice ones out there.

For starters wouldn't recommend blind buying any of Areej's 4th collection. It's the most polarizing set of fragrances ever.

Oud Luwak - while pleasant, complex and enjoyable its projection/sillage is haram. Lasts a long time but is a skin scent within 45 minutes

Russian Oud - Areej's best creation in my opinion. Chocolate, Oud, Caocao.

Bortnikoff Oud Maximus - Really unique. starts off with almost a cheezy opening but quickly develops into some rich bergamot and raw oud oils. I recommend the travel atomizer but not a full bottle.

Ensar EO.1 Parfum Extrait - Probably the best Oud perfume release in the last 2 years. It's neck and neck with Russian Oud for me but an entirely different smell. The opening is actually a rich blast of black/green tea and then you get an earthy wet earth the evolves and changes for like an hour straight. It's a masterpiece. Completely different than the EdP, and could only afford the 9ml travel atomizer but don't even care cause it'll take me at least 2 years to get through.

Bortnikoff Mysterious Oud - Starts off with a tire store aroma then dries down to slightly spicy dark out. Nice but more simplistic.

Oud Zen/Oud Picante - took me forever to find decants. great smells. terribly overrated. Particularly Oud Picante, it smells good but it smells spicy as all fuk plus there's a cumin note in there that instantly makes your brain write off the entire scent as "Curry". Oud Zen is a bit more likeable and wearable.

MFK Oud/Roja Aoud - I glad you put "oud" in quotes when describing the MFK because that's accurate. same for roja but i like them both. If you like MFK Oud, Baccarat 540, and Oud Satin Mood you'll love Roja Aoud. In my opinion it's Baccarat 540 put in a blender with MFK Oud, and toned down.

Just something frag heads do when we're bored to be honest. My goofy "sex panther" creation almost certainly won't smell as good as Kuwait straight up but it's really just self entertainment. Like I said before if I wanted maximum compliments i'd get some cheapies because they tend to project like bombs.

What do you think of BdC Parfum compared to the EdP? I couldn't find Versace Eros Flame online either. It appears that it might only be available at versace boutiques???https://www.versace.com/us/en-us/wor...es/eros-flame/

I know i saw your post and I’m tempted. Check your PM. But I really gotta cool off on these big purchases atm. Just got a bottle of UAE from Jim last nightwhich is absolutely sublime. I thought I was over the rose/Oud theme but god damn UAE is unreal, that Taif Rose note is sublime. I’d still rate Kuwait over it though.

Will ...thanks for the info brother, going to try and sample some of ones you mentioned. As far as Oud Luwak how heavy is the smokiness? I don’t mind smoke at all but I also don’t want to smell like a bonfire for the duration of the frag.

Scent of the day: SoOud - Nur Nektar Parfum

My first try from the house, and lol at there not being any oud in it at all. That said it's a big time compliment getter. Lemon, Vanilla, Amber, Cedar, Tree musk... yeah sprayed it on before i made my morning coffee run and was getting amazing aromas and wafts. Blind buy worthy. I'd put this in the office/church/formal-attire category. Not really a playful scent.

One of the most overrated reactions of the entire 4th collection. I know this for sure because i bought a sample of a frag called "Kopi Luwak Attar" from another brand which uses the same main ingredient as oud luwak. Smells very similar, where the incense/smokiness in oud luwak is only a very small distinction. But you know how bloggers are with frags, they have to create some "hot take" to make people quote their chitty review.

I don't know brah. I love the airyness/transparency of the edp and I think the sweetness is quite sufficient. Doubt I'd like the extrait more but we'll see. From reviews I've seen a whole bunch of different comparisons, from people not detecting a difference to saying there's only a difference in the opening and then it switches to the same as the edp, to people saying they're vastly different in feel. I'm excited though, even though I like two scents more, I think BR is the most magical feeling of all and gets me the most excited. No Homer.

Ended up selling my Russian Oud. When I first smelled it via a sample from luckyscent, I was blown away. Never smelled anything like it. So I jumped on getting a bottle. They ended up selling out like a week or two after I got mine. I worse it several times and while I was intrigued with it, it just didn't fit me nor my location.

I also got a sample of Russian Musk since it got all the craze and it was a big time no. It was a 1980's pine and musk vibe to it.

Thanks for the link, sucks, nothing near Raleigh.

I like the Parfum better. I never had an issue with the original strength of BdC, but I could tell right out of gate when I sprayed it on at the store that this will last even longer. It smells similar, obviously, but "smoother", if thats the right word to describe it. With it being "winter" in my area, I am definitely going to enjoy wearing this one out as I am sure it will perform really well.

Appreciate the recommendation. Still on the hunt for the Valentino, may have to drive to the closest Nordstrom to see what they have this weekend.

Yea i sold my russian oud as well. Its pretty well done oud and different from others i have smelled, but i found out that i always reached for something else to go out so it had to go.

I'm excited though, even though I like two scents more, I think BR is the most magical feeling of all and gets me the most excited. No Homer.
I think you will prefer the EDP to be honest. A lot of people find it brighter on the opening.

Scent of New Year's Eve: Rising Phoenix Musk Rose Attar with Roja Dove Kuwait sprayed on top.

Tested my Sex Panther concoction (Areej Malik Al Taif + Roja Kuwait) and while it is nice, I don't like what the saffron/oud in MaT does to Kuwait. I'd rather have the smooth rosey base of Musk Rose Attar. It's way more "gentle" and will play nicer with Kuwait.

Hard for me to describe exactly why I like it, but I love it. I even paid a pretty penny for a backup bottle. I think I've only ever wore it out the house twice. I like drinking nice whiskey/bourbon neat at home, but when i go out I drink Old Fashioneds. When I'm at home I love spraying on Russian Oud but when I go out I almost always grab a Roja. It's more of a mood thing for me, plus i live in a bitter cold/rainy climate.
