A serious relationship IMO is 'building a life together' or 'building a family together'. Again, companionship alone, is just FWB territory, IMO.

Part of what you are offering guys is; No mutual joking/inside jokes (eg. 'Exchange of wits'), not watching a TV series or movies together, no making a meal together (or making meals for each other), no discussing topics you find fascinating together (you can't even talk about movies or TV series you love, because you don't watch TV), etc.

From the mans perspective, IMO, he's basically putting in far more than he would be getting out of it. He'll be; cracking the jokes whilst you just laugh, cooking while you just eat, having to pursue an interest in TV, film, book, or learning new things without being able to share it with you. IMO people bond a lot over laughs, food, entertainment media/art, and discussing/debating topics.... You don't offer opportunity for any of that.

Loving, loyal, and supportive is great. I'm not knocking you for offering those qualities to a man.

Absolutely. I think most of us are curious as to why she's happy being like that... If she's happy, good for her. But most people would not be OK with a lifestyle she currently has.

I understand completely why SS is having trouble making new connections with people. When my 7 year relationship ended at 25 it took me a year (or up to current date) to fully recover and digest my new reality and before I could start making connections with people again. I can only imagine going through that in your 40s.

But damn missionary only? Your ex must of been terrible in the sack, you're probably better off honestly. Once you let your barriers down and let somebody in again you're going to feel so much better.

Honestly, I'm not taking issue with her being content living the life that she does.

My point is I've seen her time after time, talk about being depressed because she is single, and seems to blame her single status on wanting younger guys.

After her replies ITT I don't think she's single because she wants younger men, especially after RICHSTRONG says that she is attractive (and the man has good taste), I just think she's single because she seems to live a life that offers little in regards to opportunities for bonding, and building memories together.

(Though they minority there are older women in LTRs with younger men. So I don't think that is the only reason why she seems like she's been single for a long time.)

I will probably never address this issue with her again, outside of this thread.

Honestly, reading her responses helped put myself in perspective, and realized that despite having nothing materially to offer a women for a LTR (I'm not FA, I've been married but currently I am single), I have a lot to offer in other respects. I think that other miscers can realize that too, if take the time to reflect.
