My son thinks it's perfectly acceptable to spend $20 worth of stupid fuking V Bucks on one skin. "bUt iTs LegeNdaRy!11!".....or some dumb **** like that he tells me. But that's what happens when you're too young to understand what else you can do with your money - other than spend it on virtual items on a game.

I don't even want to know how much he has spent on that stupid game. He got a LOT of XBOX gift cards for Christmas so there's no telling.

Between V Bucks and Keys for Rocket League, I'm not sure which is worse.

Just lol if $20 spent on a virtual item in a video game brings you more joy than ~150 rounds of 9mm.

Getting people to spend real money for virtual skin upgrades, not in any way even gameplay improving or advantage-giving, is pretty great marketing. Nobody can even fault them for making a "pay to win" and they still get their $$$

if you play the PvE version of that game you get v bucks for free lol. Not technically free since the game was like $20 but you get much more than that back in v bucks.

I got Call of Duty Black Ops 4 recently but haven't had a lot of time to get into it. I play Safeguard almost 100%. Probably branch out when I level up to some decent weapons and classes.

Oh man, I have spent WAY TOO much on this game. I am seriously ashamed to say how much between my three boys.

My youngest is the worst though. He asks his brothers for their Xbox gift cards so that he can spend it on V-bucks.

I remember a while back my youngest was dying for some V-bucks to spend on a 'legendary skin' that only came out once before and would not come out ever again. He had to have it. I gave in and just LOL'd when literally EVERYONE in the game had it. I believe it was the Red Knight skin. SMH

I seriously loathe the words V-bucks and Fortnite.

I totally agree with this and I have pointed this out to my kids. It's a perfect model IMO. "Free" game geared towards kids who love to customize. Parents lose out.

I have taken the time numerous times to explain to my kids how this marketing works. They totally understand it. Then a new skin comes out and the cycle repeats itself.

It's really is pretty brilliant. I'm sure they're making plenty more selling crap that doesn't matter than they would have if they sold the game at regular price and offered everything for free.

The skins are like clothes/fashion where kids have to have something that they perceive will make them cooler/fit in more with their peers. The cool brand (new skin) likely isn't actually more functional/better material than the wal mart brand (default skin).
