Haven’t been on the board much the last 4 or 5 years or so. Came on today, discovered this thread. Nice. Dug up a few pics from the last year or two, got my carry permit in CT a couple years ago.

My pistols, top to bottom: Bersa Thunder Ultra Compact .45, Charter Arms Bulldog .44 special, Ruger LCR .327 Federal mag. Not the fanciest, but they work. I really like the trigger on the Ruger, but I bought that for the wife, so I rarely carry it.

I own several other long guns, most recent purchase was a Ruger Mini 30. Around 6 years ago I bought a Marlin 1895 SBL guide gun, .45/70.

Haha, yeah. Been a while, served ‘01-‘05. That pic was when one of the guys from Belt Fed Apparel was asking for pics of the shirt in the 2/7 Echo Co group on ********. Of course I had to flex.

how much were the tundras you looked at?
I didn’t look hard. Most crew cab full size trucks with middle of the road options seem to be about 50k.

For $55k sticker price (never pay that much) you can get a new F150 Lariat supercrew 4x4 with 3.5 EB or 5.0L and a couple small option groups added. Obviously less for an XLT if you don't have to have the entry-luxury-level extras of a Lariat

Completely forgot about the don’t mention gun line.. srs..


While leaving work at about 6:15 pm... I legit got pulled over again for not turning on my lights. Officer didn’t pull me out and was super cool. Didn’t give me a warning nor ticket either. He said wow man we get happy when we meet and pull people with concealed carry permit holders then a few seconds later he goes as LE we are big 2a supporters..

Lmao he was legit trying to just express his support. It was nice. Bad thing is my employees were in the car with me and now they know I carry. I’d rather them never knowing until a situation ever came down to me needing it. I don’t trust them knowing and think it can lead to an ambush of some sort if they knew.

Edit: I’ve been off all day and haven’t been pulled over in years. Feels like sh*t tbh.

New truck prices are insane. I'm going to buy something eventually but I think I'll probably look around 3-4 years old. There's a '17 Ram with 10k miles for 26k here in town that doesn't seem like a bad deal. It's a V6 though.

Liability. I work in the global headquarters. All of our firearms assembly, half of our machining, and most of our corporate side is based out of that building with roughly 1000 employees coming in and out on a daily basis. We go through metal detectors and bags are x-rayed on the way in and out.

If I'm down at our academy for an event or even out with writers or vendors I'm always carrying and so is everyone else I work with in my department.

any of you guys have a recommendation for a small but durable cable lock? (as much as locks can be)

something small like you'd use for luggage, but it would be for my snowboard when i leave it on the racks at the resorts when i go grab a beer. the offerings from many of the snowboard companies are pretty thin and i would bet could be beat with a simple multitool.

so i figured we're a bunch of gear whores here and might no of a good solution. any suggestions?

Im interdasted in those new SIG AR's where I can take my FCU out of my Sig P320 and pop it into the AR and i have a full functioning Sig Sower AR variant

It becomes a logistical nightmare. Then you factor in OSHA and all of the safety requirements that come with live ammunition. We're a very large company. It isn't feasible to allow every temp, visitor, whatever to carry a gun into the building.

I don't think a small cable lock is ever going to be stronger than a pair of bolt cutters

I see, giving the regular employees a different card that allows them more privilege than temps and visitors would be really difficult

i get that, and i understand the false sense of security locks provide, but id rather have it so some douche canoe cant casually walk of with my board. He at least has to work for it.

Usually on the mountain most people dont have bolt cutters and if they did it would look odd that someone is at the rack with them.


As mentioned before, the offerings from these companies are super thin cables, which could be cut with simple multi tool, which people do have with them on the mountain.

I guess i'm looking for a cable thicker like a bike lock, but small in length so it can be compact. just curious if anyone knew of anything

Legal would stonewall it for liability would be my bet. I would bet there is an exceptions list but it's way above my paygrade. Considering the number of ex seals, rangers, swat guys, and everything else I'm confident we have emergency protocols in place. Mass shooting is low on my worry list at work.

I hope you don't think people only carry guns to protect against the extraordinarily rare event that is a mass shooting.

A cable lock for a gun should fit around the rack and through the back of your binding.

Stockton, OnGuard and Kryptonite make a bunch of high quality cable locks with good thick braided steel cables, either keyed, or number combo, or even word combo. I have a few of each. Use them for locking helmets to motorcycle, mountain bikes to rack etc.

If someone wants to take your sh!t, carrying the size of bolt cutters it would take would draw much more attention than nothing at all. Especially around ski racks, motorcycles or bikes where people are more attentive to stuff like that. It's not high security where you can be completely away for a long time but it's good if you'll be nearby with like minded folks around and just want to avoid the opportunistic snatchers.

I checked out the New York Noose in person at Cycle Gear...7 damn pounds. No way anybody is carrying around a 7 lb chain in their backpack or on their bike. Maybe in actual New York though. I did have some serious chains when I was parking my BMW motorcycle downtown overnight but those didn't move. And had concrete anchors.
