He is in jail. I don't think killing a person for this is necessarily the best solution (sarcasm intended.) But I would agree, even if a 12 year old girl "squares up" you probably shouldn't clock said 12 year old. Walking away would have been the better course of action. I also think surrounding a grown man, screaming at him and shoving him wasn't especially bright on their part.

Multiple ways to handle a situation like this. You don't just cold clock a 12 year old.

Just because you CAN do it, doesn't mean you should.

You should always respond with a level of force appropriate to the threat you are facing, and that was overboard considering no 12 year old girl is gonna be able to take down a manmore his size.

That being said, if you're a 12 year old girl, you probably should be antagonizing a violent adult mannore.

Nobody is right here. But one is certainly old enough to know better.

His first mistake was inserting himself into the center of the crowd. His second mistake was being the physical aggressor. His third mistake was swinging.

He could have stopped at any one of those points before the punch, and left. They were posturing up until then, as evidenced by the immediate scatter.

Yea as much as I agree its unsettling to see a grown man strike an (allegedly) 12 year old female... When you have 10-20 kids half of them teenage males screaming and hyping some crazy rowdy situation, egging on one of their group members to "try you". Thats how these little things turn into innocent people getting hurt. Luckily the only person hurt here was the (what seems to be) the instigator.

Sure it looks bad, but no way this guy does jail time. The defense is way too easy on this one.

Simply put, the fact that he could have walked away from this and the fact that he made physical contact first is almost enough (in most states) to eliminate his self-defense case.

Add to that, the fact that this is a 12 year old girl... And man, he better have some good lawyers if he wants to avoid jail time.

Tbh, I'm not saying his reaction doesn't make sense given the situation. A lot of people would lose their cool. But he has been alive long enough to know that some things aren't worth it.

The truth is we won't really know until it happens, but I'm willing to bet money that prosecution is going to have a field day with the age thing.

It's really all up to the jury...

That being said, stay safe out there brahs. Always exercise a level head, and try to rationalize and/or escape situations like this unless you really need to be in them.
